I'm thinking about cleaning this coin mech from a 1934 Rock-Ola World Series game but thought the usual 50/50 water/Simple Green would not be good with the brass & metal rubbing. Has anyone used just WD-40 in your sonic cleaner?

I'd take it apart and do a proper cleaning.

Risky to soak dissimilar metals together.

Nate from Buckwerx.com said it usually isn't a good idea to take these mechs apart because of the fragile springs etc. Could I just make sure it's dry after it soakes?

I'd make sure I first had the replacement springs in my hands, then take it apart.

WD-40 is not going to clean off all that scale, nor remove the rust from those springs.

Thanks vid. What do you suggest i use?

I'd use clr then spray with wd-40, let soak for 5 min and remove any excess with an air gun.
