Now I know some of you have 20-30 machines in your house so you guys are just spoiled. But for the rest of us the only time we get to play machines is in the wild. And for that I am super lucky.

Within 5kms of my house I have all of these and all of these in awesome playable condition.
This is by memory so I apologize.

In Vancouver pinball is alive and well.

All because of one person too, for the most part....he takes care of his stuff, is super passionate about pinball, and it's his hand you should shake, and his coinboxes you should fill in appreciation

Incredible. I basically have to get on a plane to find that. How nice it would be to hang at a bar with a beer while playing MB. You sir are blessed!

This is very true. There are some more machines that I left off but mostly because they aren't Angelos and they aren't taken care of.

Well IM isnt his either but its new enough that it hasnt needed any work yet

That's why I have machines in my house. I'd have to either drive 4 hours NW to SS Billards in MN or drive 4 hours South and go to Gameworks in IL to play good pinballs. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

MGC is only a few weeks away!

People who own broken machines make me so very angry. I want a machine more than you can imagine, but with the prices these days being so stupid it's not even close to being possible. Yet there are people with beautiful machines out there, neglected because you refuse to fix them. Fix them, play them, or sell them to someone who will for a fair price!

Once you own pins you will soon find out all they do is break down.

I own 7 & 1 or 2 always need something, which is why I started collecting late model HUO Sterns.

Anyway to the OP, life is good!

My major local operator (which I am still thankful for) doesn't treat his pins too well. It's as if he doesn't even want to make money. His T2 has had an almost-dead left flipper for the longest time and won't fix it. Had a pretty good Scared Stiff near my work that I played every other lunch time but that has since been swapped for a tired Congo that is simply shameful. So dark and dirty and the right flipper is aligned so poorly it sits way too low — a left ramp shot requires aiming at the skill shot target bank. Doesn't seem to want any money put in those pins at all. Oh, and he puts lightening flippers on all his pins.

In contrast a couple of smaller operators keep their pins in great condition and they charge more per play. I prefer those pins for sure.

It has been said before that a person can do whatever they want with their own pins. I know I seem to only have about half mine running at a time. The others are either getting overhauled, sitting broken, or just in storage. I work really hard and have limited time to "play."

I feel for you about not being able to get a pin but if you really want one you should be able to save the funds for a beginner pin. There are several playable pins out there for $500-600. That is no different than a few years ago. Start small and work your want up from there. I just got a WWF Monday in that price range.

HA! I can't believe a lot of people do things that I know nothing aboot either. That's the biz we're in. Waiting on a part in the mail, waiting on a board to be fixed, researching problems, waiting for more parts to come, oh these parts just came in but shit I didn't order that other part; It happens.
So much of the fun of ownership is the fixery. If all your games work there goes a big part od the fun
I am 100% working right now though. And 100% means I've forgotten a bunch of little crap i need to deal with.

EDIT: Right now I have to get ready to move swap a pin with one at my brothers house. Running out of room to have them all...that's what angers me.

Yeah, it's not as easy as one might think. I have had machines that have had only minor issues, and others that have been one bloody thing after another, but what rings true is that there will ALWAYS be something. These are complicated machines.

As for the original comment, wow, I don't think in any point in history I had that many that close in the wild.

    Sixsixtie, you are lucky.
I have access to the ones that myself and my mother have had shipped across country, and that's it. I am so excited about my Orlando vacation in November because not only do I get to see pins at Disney Quest and the parks, but there is a pinball convention/festival that we are going to be able to go to one day. That's the only way I'm ever going to get even close to the pins you have near you. Enjoy them.

This is one of the few reasons I wished I still lived in Sandy Eggo. Here in Sticks, MS there is next to nothing out in the wild. With the few exceptions of business trips, I have to essentially collect whatever I want to play, or visit a local fellow collectors collection. A recent 3-day trip to Sandy Eggo and I was able to play TSPP , IJ4, Avatar, Tron x2, TAF, T3, TFTC, AFM x2, X-Men Magneto, & MB. It was an abundance of traffic and lack of time that kept me from playing MM, DH, CV, and a couple others at another venue. And I still managed to squeeze in a couple client meetings.

Of course, if I still lived in Sandy Eggo, I'd probably not be able to afford a house in which to collect pins.

I don't think there's a routed CV in SD, did you go to a collector's house?

    Where's the x men at?

I have similar places close to me in Portland Oregon but lately I found my self no longer going. I am more content to have them at home with that same beer in my hand and no one to share with but friends and family. =-)
