Quoted from rotordave:

In all my years of pinball, I’ve never heard of a speaker smoking! What the hell!
Must have had burnt out coil? You don’t think that’d pop the amp though. Weird.
Good you got it cranking again!
rd

Yea, my tech had never seen it before either. The amplifier chip (the one on the heatsink) had kind of exploded, like broken into a few pieces, and the speaker was stuck solid, couldn't move the cone at all with your hand.
Weird

Thanks! I'm real happy with the end product for a first effort.
The rear g.I. fuse (f108??) Kept blowing, turned out to be a light socket shorting internally. Also had problems with the reel, fter some mucking around,I put my repaired bally/williams mpu back in and it was sorted, I don't know if it's a problem with the homepin mpu, but I'm just gonna run the repaired original board from now on and keep the homepin one as spare.
It's got a lot of plays, and no other problems other then those two. I can confirm that a brand new clearcoat on an old playfield will still get covered in tiny dimples from airballs.
Love the comet leds in the pop bumpers...
Such a fun game, but so simple
