I like your idea. I made an "East Dock" sign that I mounted further up from the upper playfield flipper and I just bought a Jurassic Park Jeep model when I was at Universal Studios Florida last weekend. I was thinking about mounting the Jeep somewhere near the East Dock sign, and your idea of using the jeep as the flasher housing might work. My Jeep, however seems to be pretty large. What size is your Jeep?
