The question was "Why isn't the theme in the videos in the game?"
Gary Responds "I don't know........."
Might be the lamest answer of all time, color me disappointed.

Perhaps the president if the company doesn't feel the need to micro manage every aspect of the game? I don't think the answer is that lame.
Quoted from RogerKlotz27:Might be the lamest answer of all time, color me disappointed.
Gary is just a figurehead.
He never knows the details about anything.
It would be like asking Bill Ford why Sync won't work with your 160gig iPod in your new Ford.
Quoted from markmon:Perhaps the president if the company doesn't feel the need to micro manage every aspect of the game? I don't think the answer is that lame.
His time is done, spend his twilight year drinking instead of running a company. He doesn't know about music in his games but he'll explain about Vodka brands till the cows come home.

This is probably accurate. He probably signs off on the license itself, and it probably ends there.
Quoted from badbilly27:Wait, so the new ST pin is only based on the first movie? The second movie is not incorporated at all?
The whole center toy, the vengeance ship, is in the second movie only.
Quoted from frolic:This is probably accurate. He probably signs off on the license itself, and it probably ends there.
Until he comes in and tells them to abandon the code.
Quoted from LP30:It was stated previously that the new theme required a separate license and was cost prohibitive.
Yep, that was me. I wound up chatting with Waison for about 20 minutes at Expo, and according to what he told me, the new theme is not in the pin due to the high cost of licensing.
Which makes me wonder....this is the second time they've used the new theme in the promo video. How can they use it there, but not in the pin?
Things that make you go, "Hmmmm"....

THis is what I say, seems bogus... Get to work on this Stern Boys!
Quoted from LP30:It was stated previously that the new theme required a separate license and was cost prohibitive.
I paid $7,895.00 for my Stern Star Trek LE so it sure seems like I already have paid for the rights to one Star Trek theme song and if it's not included I am sure I'll feel something every time I bend over.

Agreed. That does not make sense. BUT several folks on here say we can edit the music. OK by me, but how in the heck do you do THAT? Not all of us (including me) are that tech.

This should help...

I just watched the tutorial. Awesome! But I still don't understand why Paramount would charge so much for the theme when ANYONE can put it on their machine. Or does Stern know this and feel they do not need to mess with it if anyone can go in and change sound/music?
Quoted from fumbleflippers:You guys can edit the music in the roms, quit bellyaching over a moot issue.
I'm waiting for "Stayin' Alive" disco-ball mode.
Quoted from smokey_789:Or does Stern know this and feel they do not need to mess with it if anyone can go in and change sound/music?
Stern knows it.
If someone wants it, they can just put it in themselves.
Quoted from smokey_789:I just watched the tutorial. Awesome! But I still don't understand why Paramount would charge so much for the theme when ANYONE can put it on their machine. ...
That is a bit like asking why music is sold for more than $0.01 when anyone can copy it.

Junior or Senior? We'll just have to ask Mark Fields....

In Gary's words he is a Lawyer and his focus is on manufacturing, bill of materials, etc. He'll talk all day about the things he knows and focuses on... but the game design is left to others in the company.
Quoted from Baiter:In Gary's words he is a Lawyer and his focus is on manufacturing, bill of materials, etc. He'll talk all day about the things he knows and focuses on... but the game design is left to others in the company.
well then start sending them to the shows and let Gary stay Home
I just played ST Pro on route and it's got the original ST theme in there (which was also in the new movies during the end credits). That's the REAL ST theme music for most...and it's in the game! Aside from that, the game has some really great music...original David Thiel tunes I'm guessing. Enjoy it!
Quoted from RogerKlotz27:spend his twilight year drinking instead of running a company.
lol, Isn't this what we should ALL aspire to?
Do you also talk just to hear yourself talk, like you post because you feel like you have to say something no matter how stupid?

I don't normally agree with Jalpert but he's right. Since you arrived a few weeks ago Klotz, every post is either waxing idiotic or just purposefully argumentative. Call back under the rock from which you came.
Quoted from RogerKlotz27:His time is done, spend his twilight year drinking instead of running a company. He doesn't know about music in his games but he'll explain about Vodka brands till the cows come home.
That's a bit harsh. It's not called Stern pinball because he just sat there an tickled himself for all this time.
Quoted from jalpert:Do you also talk just to hear yourself talk, like you post because you feel like you have to say something no matter how stupid?
Did you watch his "Presentation"?
If only running a company were as easy as typing some stupid bull shit on the internet.
Too funny....
Quoted from RawleyD:lol, Isn't this what we should ALL aspire to?
It wasn't a slight. It was clearly his primary focus and its fine, everyone's time comes. If you had any CEO babbling on about nonsense for 30 minutes, any board of directors would terminate them that day. But Stern Pinball has no Board of Directors, and Gary inherited it from his father.

The REAL music? Show me the defining music to the two new movies, you won't pick the one during the end credits. If it is the better pick then why aren't they advertising with it?
Quoted from jalpert:Do you also talk just to hear yourself talk, like you post because you feel like you have to say something no matter how stupid?
I love clicking on threads that don't interest me and than offering up insults because someone has a differing opinion.

They don't integrate seamlessly. Stop clicking the thread if you don't want to participate. That goes to you 9 thumb uppers as well.

great-thread.jpgQuoted from RogerKlotz27:Stern Pinball has no Board of Directors
Yes, it does.
Quoted from RogerKlotz27:Gary Stern inherited it from his father.
Gary Stern does not own Stern Pinball.
Nor did Sam Stern ever own it.
Quoted from RogerKlotz27:and Gary inherited it from his father
Um, no he didn't. You clearly don't know the history behind DE/Sega/Stern. Sam Stern had absolutely nothing to do with the current company. The last thing that Sam had any involvement in was Stern Electronics which closed down a few years earlier.
DE (the pinball division) was started from the ground up in 1986 by Gary, Shelley Sax, and Joe Kaminkow. Gary has been president the whole time.... through the buyout/name change with Sega in '94, and then in '99 he bought the company from Sega and renamed it once again.
Quoted from vid1900:Gary Stern does not own Stern Pinball.
Yeah, since the investors bailed him out a few years back, technically this is correct.

You are embarrassing yourself.
Quoted from MattElder:Yeah, since the investors bailed him out a few years back, technically this is correct.
Why would you bail Gary out? Did you see the presentation?
It's the same presentation that Gary has made 100000000 times.
If you are familiar with pinball, you know exactly what to expect when you go see it.
Quoted from vid1900:It's the same presentation that Gary has made 100000000 times.

And people are here defending this guy? I don't get it.
Quoted from RogerKlotz27:And people are here defending this guy? I don't get it.
Gary is not the owner of Stern.
If you want to hear about the history of pinball, the work his dad did (Sam Stern), how 1/2 the games go to Europe, how we need more location and leauge play, rah rah rah.........then you go see Gary's presentation and enjoy it.
If you want to know some secret flipper combination, when the next code revision comes out, or how to adapt a wiring harness; you don't go to see Gary's presentations.
Anyone who has been in the hobby more than a few days knows this.
Gary is only the figurehead. Gary is only the figurehead. Gary is only the figurehead. Gary is only the figurehead. (repeat until you understand).
