Ball control is the key in LOTR. Other games don't seem to have the slings aiming at the side drains as accurately as LOTR. So many shots in LOTR return the ball to the flipper. Flailing aimlessly will not generate the long game.

Also, what difficulty do you have the game set to for all the modes?
