I don't know how you say this in the US, but...: "it's not the one who shoots first, but the one who has the better aim"!

Han shot first.

#106 8 years ago

OK, let me try again.... "he who gets the girl, is the one who has the better aim, not the one who shoots first!"

It wouldn't be as a hate thread, I can tell you that!

I can find good works from any pinball artist. Some more than others.

A wall of nothing but illuminated Christian Marche backglasses would be awesome. I find his art very colorful.

Here's some more information about Christian Marche I found looked back in my old emails (2009)..
Got this information from someone who wanted to sell the paintings, but he never replied to my questions.. had posted it back then on rgp too and some people were interested but I don't know if any was able to contact the person who sent me the information.

Mr Marche left the USA in 1978 and went to France, Corse (Corsica).
There he continued as a painter until his death in 2009.
In attachment 2 pictures of paintings he made.

Ok let's get it back on track...this has turned into a love fest for CM

I must admit that while reading this thread my original opinion about CM's art has changed and I do like some of his later work. Hokus Pokus, Aladdin's Castle and Space Odyssey come to mind ...maybe because I also enjoyed playing those games when I was younger.

So who thinks this is good?

When I see something like that you may hate or think stupid or lame etc.. But a title and theme of student prince ??? Then if you can think of the more "civil or innocent?? days ". You know when Dad had one pair of fancy leather shoes with a big buckle and wore rubbers if weather was nasty. When is the last time you seen a pipe smoker. Hell at NASA guys would be coding and smoking pipes at their desks.

The art. Well pointy angular style that makes things vague and simple. I guess. I am no artist and no cridic but sure seems to be his signature style(calling card).

Looks like they are having a beer drinking good time and it makes me feel.

Holy hell looks like he did over 100, and I have one as well. Star Action. Who knew. I need to go play my Marche!!

Now that would be interesting on a pin.

#123 8 years ago

Student Prince was most likely designed and themed for the export (German) market.
Over the years I have not seen too many for sale or at shows in the states.
The BG artwork is pretty sparse, so lacking in appeal IMHO.
The PF and Plastics & CAB artwork do a better job.
Also the game play makes this a basic one feature game,
though the use of zipper flippers make it fairly unique for a WMS pin.

I recently picked up a Doodle Bug. Also have a Gulfstream in my collection. I like the Pointy people. A lot of the games Marche did and some folks call pointy people are really not so pointy. As was pointed out previously he did a lot of games - over 150 of them that go across many styles. Other games I have that were done by Marche are Bow and Arrow, Boomerang, Skylab and some others. Pretty prolific pinball artist. Not just Pointy People . But I admit I like the Pointy People myself - I think they are cool and definitely are vintage pinball vibe.
