I was looking for a long time .. and finally got my hands on a Williams 8 ball this past week. I have been becoming a big fan of 60s Williams games and 8 ball and skill pool have been on my most wanted list for the last year or so. one down and one to go .
Anyways, I bought it for the title. A little help and a couple hours today and it seems to be working 100 % but .. I did find the oddest thing with this machine.
Firstly , there is no credit wheel or a way to add credits. I have taken some pictures but by all accounts it never had one. it isn't as if someone hacked it out .. to use on another game. The credit window on the glass appears to be masked over in somewhat professional manner. I had this on a glass for a jockey club where the special was ... left off the glass and masked over by the mfg.
where the credit wheel is supposed to be, there never has been a bracket installed .. you can tell from the connsitant color of wood.. and also , a piece of bakelight where wires to the credit wheel should have gone placed on the one side of bakelite but .. nothing soldered on the other side.
There seems to have been a hack to the start button but also it appears the contacts .. were never installed to engage with the conventional start button . however another button has been added to the coin door , and im thinking it is the wiring from the coin mechanism... a way to bypass for free credits.. when it .. to me looks like a coin was necessary to ... start a game or 2 coins needed for 2 players. the game has a replay, extra ball option as well as a match unit which works .. albeit.. this all was left perhaps ... I wonder if this is the way the machine was sent out to bypass certain gambling regulations? has anyone seen something similar?
