Yup, that was me, Hoov. Can't do it with the shipping...

Though I am willing to drive a bit (Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Arizona) for a pin because then I feel like I'm getting a fun road trip out of it. Any Hurdy Gurdys in the western U.S need a new home??

Wartime conversions happened during WW2. When manufacturers weren't able to build new games due to the war efforts (Gottlieb was building parachute harnesses and ammunition casings) other companies stepped up to make "refresh"' kits-new backglasses usually, to make an old game feel new again. Kind of like refacing kitchen cabinets...

You're both in luck, there are TWO chime units available at that price! ($130 each, in case the eBay auction ends early)

Quoted from boilerman:

really the only thing that goes bad is the coil, easy fix
sometimes they are missing on older games
I got those 10 when I was really into system 1's
the early ones had chimes and would convert the later ones to chimes. I liked the chimes over that crappy 3 tone board they were using

Yup, that's why I've bought several at swap meets and shows, I don't think I've ever spent more than $15 or $20 on a set though.

That very same King Tut "sold" in a no reserve auction for the starting bid of $99 a few months ago. Then was immediately relisted by the same seller for a BIN of $399. It didn't sell at $399 but I see it's back for another try. Shady....

Here's a link to the $99 auction that ended in June.

That's funny because I also ended up with a Rex instead of a Tut. So who was King Rex?
