Quoted from ccotenj:

slotted screws are evil, and a bane to mankind... i replace every one of them i can with phillips screws... or even better, hex heads...
heck, even with machines that come with phillips screws, i replace the old ones with new ones whenever possible... there's nothing worse than a cammed out screw, and new ones are cheap insurance...

Oh no... This again...

#373 10 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

Anyone in the New Jersey area want to pick up a Sittin Pretty and bring it back to life?
Ebay link

Sure.... Why not?

#374 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

suppose someone in nj were to bid on that... how far should that person take the bidding?

Not too far... Needs more $ thrown at after... New BG... Most likely caps and plastics too... No one said it'd be easy though...

#379 10 years ago
Quoted from DirtFlipper:

Nicely restored (not 'shopped', restored), and if the playfield is 'nice' and the cabinet is good, should sell in the 1200-1500.
Repro backglass is ~300 (depending on shipping), plastics another 80. Misc parts - maybe another 100. Call it 500 in parts.
So the margin is the difference (700-1000). But the game needs to be complete, solid, and with a good playfield. Can't tell from the pics shown, but it looks possible.

10 minutes left on the Sittin' Pretty... At $324.99...

#381 10 years ago

Nope... IMO, way too much money for something that I'd have to drop another $500-700 into...

#382 10 years ago

SO... I'll just have to see what York offers this weekend...

#400 10 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

So, where can I get an Egg Head now that my dislike has turned to want?

I want an Egg Head as well... More out of nostalgia than anything else...

Quoted from Pafasa:

I think your spellcheck missed something!

Hahaha

#445 10 years ago

Welcome back...

Like totally dude!

Quoted from EM-PINMAN:

Another Nice one for $349.99 out the door. A Gottlieb "Top Card".
Ebay link
Ken

I'd buy that if it were closer. That is a good player.

#472 10 years ago

Can't say I was in the market for a Dealer's Choice, but $125? Yeah it was a good deal...

#528 10 years ago

Not my speed, but I saw this Captain Fantastic firsthand today and it really is nice...

#540 10 years ago

Buckaroo is a damn fine player IMHO...

Oh yeah... Top Card is popular lately...

#545 10 years ago
Quoted from hoov:

That's the way to be successful in Buckarooland........

Hahaha "Buckarooland...."

#564 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

if i hadn't have just bought the Bad Cats, i would be mightily tempted...
plus i REALLY need to sell something before i get another, i'm getting rather jammed up space-wise here... of course, if i'd get off my can and finish the magic city so i could get the pf back in it, that would free up space for 1 more machine...
edit: although... since it is in myrtle beach, i COULD make a golf trip out of it...

Need someone to babysit the 4 square? I could find some room...

Although I need to make room for a Top Card I just picked up...

#572 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

^^^
your generosity is unequalled...
cool, a top card... that's a wicked fun game... congrats! is it all functional, or is the "wicked pinball repairman of the west" making a trip from pa to nj to tune it up?

Oh yeah... I'm very generous. Hahaha

Right now in the process of stripping down the Top Card playfield for cleaning and waxing. New skirts, mylar rings, and other assorted goodies all ready to go from PBR...

Also have Dealer's Choice and Sunset projects to contend with. Yikes. Yep... Calling in the cavalry.

I have too many pins and not enough space... Gotta move 1 or 2.

#575 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

were you able to score a bg for that sunset?

No... Very low on the pin priority list at this point. That Sunset is a real project, which has become more a "just save the pin from the scrap heap" than a refurbishment at this point. All about Top Card right now...

#578 10 years ago
Quoted from Pafasa:

I had already started the adoption paperwork and now I find out you would prefer to be brother to a couple of steelers??!! I'm hurt Chris. Very hurt.

Steelers? Wachoo talkin' bout Willis?

#580 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

well, i'm glad you kept it from being scrapped... would have been a shame to see it trashed...
i'm thinking that top card will be all tuned up and running good by sunday night...

Possibly... Got a bit of the old magic erasure... ummm.... magic to work at...

Haha

1972 Bally Space Time

I have my own Space Time up on Ebay...

ebay.com link: itm

#613 10 years ago
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:

I am guessing you bought something so you have to make room for a new machine?

Yes... A Top Card, a Dealer's Choice, and a Sunset project...

#698 10 years ago
Quoted from AlexF:

After looking I think that is just for two pop bumper caps.

Indeed... Haha

#701 10 years ago
Quoted from AlexF:

They way it's written isn't overly obvious. I had to look at it a few times before I got the gist of what was actually for sale. It will be interesting to see the bidding anyway. Hopefully some potentially disappointed buyer doesn't think he is buying a nice Slick Chick.

Kinda shitty for the guy to get our hopes up like that... Haha

#756 10 years ago

It's 2:38am EST... Do you know where your pinballs are?

Right... Haha

#819 10 years ago

I'd hate to see how much more $ it would cost if it had instruction and score cards...

1955 "GYPSY QUEEN" Gottlieb woodrail pinball machine ~ COLLECTOR QUALITY ~
Ebay link

That is a real nice looker though...

#837 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

that seller also has a $5500 square head...
Ebay link
wonder if he'll make a package deal...

Well... There are some people out there that can drop that coin with no problem... To some people $5500 is like $55...

What a world...

#846 10 years ago
Quoted from stashyboy:

On a side note, I would buy a Top Card project if anyone has one locally for less than $400. A couple have come and gone this fall. Seems to be going moving right now.

I am digging the TC I picked up a couple weeks ago... Seems to be on everyone's list these days...

#848 10 years ago
Quoted from EM-PINMAN:

1964 Gottlieb Bowling Queen
Ebay link
Ken

I like the pinball machines on the backglass... Neato.

#856 10 years ago
Quoted from stashyboy:

I just bid on it.

I bet it will go above my 'project price' unfortunately....

That machine was listed months ago... I don't think anybody met the reserve.

#858 10 years ago
Quoted from EM-PINMAN:

No Reserve now so I am pretty sure it should at least sell for the $500.00 start bid.
Ken

The Bowling Queen?

#866 10 years ago
Quoted from EM-PINMAN:

I thought you were talking about the magic City. Sorry.
Ken

No apology needed... Things move pretty quick in the fast paced world of EM pinball threads... Hard to keep up sometimes.

Quoted from EM-PINMAN:

A cool Williams Wood rail!
Ebay link
Ken

That is a cool looking machine. Would be a nice addition to any card themed pin collection.

Looked up Williams Casino on ipdb...

http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=463

Gotta love this review --> "Have no idea why someone below me would like to own this game. Just like almost all the wood rails they are slow and cumbersom. woodrails remind me of infants in their level of playability. bingos with flippers are where I place them due to their virtual non exciting playfield layouts. Would not wish to own a modle T ford either because of the choices I now have in automotive design and comfort today. Give me a new stern game today and do not bother me with electro mechenicals. Even some of the older solid states are clunky and not worth a consideration fun house being a prime example of a tired solid state with out of date gimics whos popularity is somehow maintaining a strong loyal following."

Jeez...

#873 10 years ago
Quoted from EM-PINMAN:

Looks like the guy with the Bally Fireball did not like the way the pricing was going and pulled the pin. I found out when selling a machine it is best to skip the Reserve and just list the machine at a start price you can live with in case the market is slow at the time of the listing, that way you don't have to do the emergency ad pull at the last minute.
Ebay link
Ken

Or someone offered him a price he couldn't refuse outside of ebay?

#874 10 years ago

Just spotted that Fireball on Mr. Pinball Classified for $1,900...

#875 10 years ago

Gottlieb 'Sing Along'... Playfield has a bit more wear than I would like...

I bought a NOS near perfect from Steve at Mayfair Amusements.
Check it out....This is a great player

It certainly is... Figure out the moving of the machines to fit it? If you need help, just let me know.

Quoted from DirtFlipper:

I've acquired more than enough games this year anyway.

Hahaha... Year's almost up. Bring on 2014!

#973 10 years ago
Quoted from WeirPinball:

I have two SPs - one that is going to be a nice players game and this one that turned out super nice. Bought it a few years ago and finally getting it done. Repro bg, new plastics, pops rebuilt, new flipper bats, new cigarette holders, power cord, roto decals, coin door trim, entrance plate, pop caps. Legs and coin door powder coated.
Scott

That looks terrific. Nice job.

I would love a SP in my collection some day.

1966 Gottlieb Hurdy Gurdy AAB. Looks very nice if you are an AAB guy.
ebay.com link » Gottlieb Hurdy Gurdy Pinball 1966 Rare Penny Arcade Add A Ball

Saw that last night... Not really that rare. According to ipdb 3100 made... AAB version of Central Park.

#981 10 years ago
Quoted from hoov:

Some don't even care if it's fun.

I agree... Some people just collect rare titles.

But... For some, rarity or fun factor doesn't always matter. There is someone out there who thinks that Bristol Hills is the best game ever. It's a game he or she grew up playing and would probably love to own one if given the chance. Unfortunately some of "recaptured memories" can cost you some serious coin...

At the end of the day, nostalgia... Childhood memories... To me, THAT is the best reason to want or own a machine.

(But it sure is nice if its a good player though)

1977 Stern 'Disco'

Take that!

#1053 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

well, the last one DID sell for $450...
if the pf and bg are good, 299.99 is a decent enough price on that though... remains to be seen how bad the rest of it is...

Top Card is a fun and fast game. The four kickers and three pop bumbers really knock the ball around in a frenzy sometimes.

#1069 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

sadly, i think i already have... fortunately, many pictures were taken... and if i get too stuck, one of you guys will figure it out for me...
i'm actually surprised that more machines don't have cigarette holes burned in them, or at least with charred siderails... we used to just lay them on top of the machine when we were playing, i know i charred a siderail or two...

I remember my Dad placing cigarettes on the side rails when he worked on pinball machines at my Grandfather's store in PA.

My Hong Kong wood rail may have been a victim of this... Directly from him.

Why would there be holes in the side of the cab...?

Perhaps a knocker bolted through the cabinet?

#1090 10 years ago
Quoted from ccotenj:

i wish i'd strike black gold in my backyard...
of course, i live in new jersey... i have a good chance of striking possibly useful radioactive material...

Or some mafia snitch's buried bones...

Gottlieb's 'Flying Chariots'.... Makes me think there should have been a Ben Hur themed pin...

Nice Lord Chesterfield avatar Joe...

#1356 10 years ago
Quoted from jrpinball:

I picked up a case of LCA in cans on a recent trip to PA. not far from Merchant's Square where they used to have the Allentown show. It's way better in cans. Of course I pour it into a chilled glass before enjoying it. A little known fact; the founder of the Yuengling brewery was named David Gottlieb Yuengling! Yes, for real! That's why we call it the "pinball beer"!

Nice!
