Well, I am partial to Top Score because I have one, but I have not played C37, Atlantis or Lawman. I did the pop bumper separation mod and that sped the action up considerably and the red collect bonus hole allows you to clear the bonus and fill it up again.

Quoted from Craig:

"Fun," but not $2,895 fun.

That's been there for quite a while. All of their pins are priced that way.

Decent looking Volley for $995 BIN in Indiana

Last time it was for $1099. I am wondering why the flipper area has been painted.

The sample was completely different. Ipdb shows only the one.

Quoted from EM-PINMAN:

I would have liked to have seen that Playfield in person as the green may be original and just another version of a sample game. Be interesting to know what the serial number is to confirm either way.

Mystery solved! The ipdb entry for Volley mentions chipboard being used for the playfield instead of plywood on the ones with the painted flipper area.

Yep. I am glad that my Volley is not chipboard. I didn't know that some were when I bought it so I guess I am lucky. I knew that pretty much every Gottlieb EM I have ever seen uses bare wood for the flipper area, so I would have investigated a little bit, but I doubt that I would have realized the potential problems this can cause.

Quoted from NicoVolta:

Thread update... after visiting PHOF thrice this week, I get the Atlantis thing. Need to re-rank my list:
1. Top Score/300
2. Atlantis
3. Centigrade 37
(a distant 4th) Lawman/Sheriff
Chasing the Atlantis 1-2-3-4-etc. sequence is a heckuva lot more fun than stacking Lawman's bonus counter (and waiting for it to ratchet down to zero... ker-chunk, ker-chunk, ker-chunk). At least Top Score gives you a kick-ass backbox animation for that.
Still don't prefer the tight slings/smallish lower play area of Atlantis/Lawman... but yeah... now I can see why it's so popular. OK, let's get this thread back on topic:

I haven't found a local Atlantis/Lawman or C37 to try. Will have to make the trip to Vegas soon to check it out.

Which crazy trick lane? Are you referring to the opens gate lane?

#4944 7 years ago
Quoted from NicoVolta:

No... there is a hidden lane which curves behind the two kickouts at the upper left.

I know what you mean now. That isn't really a lane, kinda just a turnaround.

Top Score is great. Just add a relay to separate the pops. And that machine looks conspicuously like the one that was being offered for 2800. Actually, it is.

Quoted from Shapeshifter:

Playfield looks gorgeous but it's a shame the reds on the backglass are so faded.
At that price that would be a deal breaker for me.

Agree on the backglass. It must have been in the sun a lot.

Quoted from DropTarget:

that would make a huge difference

I did it to mine. Works great.
