Talked to my brother. He can pick it up.
Looks like I am getting it (I clicked on "Buy It Now," but I have to wait for something with Paypal to be resolved by the seller before completing the deal. Should happen soon.
Thanks, JR! I'll drive down to pick it relatively soon. Now I am going to need help with painting that cabinet!
Thanks. I wrote the seller to ask about the termite issue. Thankfully, I'll pay through Paypal, and I'll have my brother not take it if it isn't as described.
Quoted from John_in_NC:I would love to see the market support high end restorations on these old EMs
Agreed. I'm considering the full restoration of one or two EMs, but I have to wonder how much of a hit I would take if and when it came time to sell. Losing 20% is one thing, but the prospect of losing 50% or more is sobering.
I have been on the losing end of pinball sales many times, believe me. My point is that it is easier to judge in advance what the sale of a restored high-demand DMD pin might fetch than a restored EM.
Quoted from John_in_NC:One of the very rare occasions I actually lost money selling a pin was ironically to you.
It was well invested, John, I assure you! Imagine how different things would be now if I hadn't bought that pin. It set off quite a chain reaction.
I've lost several hundred dollars a number of times and $1,600 once (ouch!). Any more, I am thrilled to break even, although that rarely happens. I suppose the key is holding onto things longer. I'll have to try that!
Someday (only someday), I'd think I'd like to have a four-flipper wedgie. What do you think of Big Hit?
So, can you tell me what you like about Crosstown? And how would you rate it compared to Capt. Card? I have a crack at them both (though I'd only get one, if any), but I am not sure about either, not having played them. Thanks.
Thanks. I probably wouldn't be considering getting Crosstown, having never played it, but I am going to be on the road out of state the next couple of days and will be driving fairly close to where one is for sale. Honestly, I prefer AAB games for home use, so that is why the Capt. Card interested me. The difference here is that I have no way of seeing it in person. It's the one currently for sale in northern NJ. I wonder if any of the NJ crowd on here have seen it. If so, please send me a PM about it. I'd love to get a disinterested opinion.
The Cross Town is a bit more expensive, but I wouldn't have to pay shipping, so they really aren't that far apart. I am trying now to find out more about the condition.
Quoted from PinballFever:For myself, I would definitely consider a Subway or Hearts and Spades because they're both AAB games and I've played the replay versions so I know they're fun games.
Yeah, my gut is telling me to hold out for the AAB, which is also my preference. What does a reasonably good Subway sell for nowadays? I know one sold very recently. Wish I'd been in a position to get it.
"Fun," but not $2,895 fun.
