Please don't let him part this game out!
This is one of those games that has the star feature where you can win 200 replays I think!!!!
Big project for someone maybe?
Thread update... after visiting PHOF thrice this week, I get the Atlantis thing. Need to re-rank my list:
1. Top Score/300
2. Atlantis
3. Centigrade 37
(a distant 4th) Lawman/Sheriff
Chasing the Atlantis 1-2-3-4-etc. sequence is a heckuva lot more fun than stacking Lawman's bonus counter (and waiting for it to ratchet down to zero... ker-chunk, ker-chunk, ker-chunk). At least Top Score gives you a kick-ass backbox animation for that.
Still don't prefer the tight slings/smallish lower play area of Atlantis/Lawman... but yeah... now I can see why it's so popular. OK, let's get this thread back on topic:

I haven't found a local Atlantis/Lawman or C37 to try. Will have to make the trip to Vegas soon to check it out.

I played the C37 at PHOF more than any other game - played well, although not a fan of the led's but they make sense in that environment.
PHOF implements at least five consistent tweaks for their EM's:
1) Cool-spectrum LED's everywhere
2) Extremely snappy pops and slingshots (upgraded to yellow-wrapper coils with two or three lengths removed).
3) Custom relays which shut off playfield insert lights after game over (to reduce heat and electricity).
4) Taller post screws secured on top and below with nuts to withstand higher speed ball strikes.
5) Diabolical replay scoring thresholds. I almost always miss a replay by the tiniest amount... aaargh!
Tim is currently considering building a second facility next door (over 2x existing size). He has over 800 other games in storage. Eight. Hundred.
I dunno how much longer he can charge only 25 cents for a game. Discussions were made about either increasing the pitch (difficulty), increasing the price to 50 cents, or removing the endgame match option since most people walk away from it anyway.

Really, just increase to 50 cents. Job done. Most of my 70's em's were 25 cents and that was 40 years ago!
2 coins per play is a bit of an undertaking on most EMs. It not an available option and either require some rewiring, or installing hardware that's not there.
In Tim's case, it might make sense to make custom 2 coin module pcbs, or the go to 3 tokens per dollar $0.33/play. But then he has to change all games to tokens.

Instead of going through all that hassle he would be better off just charging a flat rate front door fee for admission IMO.
Ken
Tokens can be bought online by the sackful. That's a lot of mechs to change out and doesn't give you utilization metrics.
Flat-fee/time-based arcades are a big mistake in my opinion. My top three gripes:
1) devalue the meaning of earning a special/match
2) eliminates the option for customers to "stop in" for a few quick games... essentially discouraging them from coming until they can dedicate a block of time for a visit
3) many more people simply walk away from half-finished games and/or queue up 3-4 player games mistakenly
Card swipers are expensive and biometric options are a security risk. I see low-cost RFID tags/keyfobs/wristbands as the future.
As far as Tim is concerned, his best option for the short term is to eliminate the match option. 10% increase in revenue with no change in gameplay or coin mechs... and easy to implement quickly.
Here is a Williams Casino woodrail.
I think the guy would have been better served to have just put his pics on E-bay instead of using auctiva. I'd really like to see what this one looks like.

These are actually links to live auctions, which require a separate sign up. So they're basically an ad for an upcoming live auction. And auction houses usually charge a buyer's premium, ranging from 10%-25%.
For these, you sign up and get approval. Then when the live auction starts, you log in and can watch the bidding proceed in real time. There are bids from the "floor" (folks in attendance at the auction), or from eBay attendees. They're conducted by a real auctioneer, and bidding continues until the auctioneer hammers it sold. It's like being a phone bidder at a live auction. The ones I've tried it seemed that most of the winning bids were from the floor. And prices were pretty high.
But the buyers premium is pretty typical. If you ever attend a real auction, expect the same.

You know the bastards are making a buck off of it somehow.

I'm sure they do. Floor bidders at live auctions usually have lesser premiums than Internet bidders (regardless of if via eBay or other auction venues).

A friend of mine -- in your vicinity -- had one of these for sale recently on eBay, for about $250. less, although pickup or shipping would have been on the buyer. (I think it was in a decent player's condition.) No takers. He was not willing to accept any less for it, so he ended up parting it out, instead. The backglass was in great shape, and became a framed art object for his wall.
[Interesting footnote: there was an obscure Italian version of this pin that turned up on eBay, at least several months ago. In the bg artwork for that one, Cleo was completely starkers . . . .]

Even with shipping that is a nice deal. There are some days I miss my Central Park but then I glance at my 72 Fireball that was financed by the sale of it.
Central Park? No big loss. King of Diamonds? Obtainable and you see them with some regularity.
Surf Side? Ouch. That was the killer trade item. I'm still shocked you let that one go... but it went to a good home, never to leave...

This game was in the marketplace for $3300 a few weeks ago. Needs a custom made wooden back door and that hole repairing.
What a mark up.

That seller also has a few other big ticket pins for sale.
Says ships from Fullerton OC, so might be Odin's neighbor.
Quoted from o-din:It's the $499 shipping that I can't stomach.
Well, he does specify "white glove" shipping. Isn't that where they bring it in and actually set it up for you where you want?
Quoted from NicoVolta:He's a restorer. The ones I've seen online look pretty nice. Never met him in person though.
he isn't a restorer, just a buyer of nice machines.
the ebay seller is a friend of the machines owner
No? Hmmm... I thought there was a guy in Fullerton who did pricey but good looking restorations. I stand corrected.
