Buy it Now for $295.00

That is a deal, for a WMS reverse WedgeHead, even if it may not be in good cosmetic shape.

Location, location location.

Been on the list too long....I would pull the trigger if I'm in Texas for a vacation....

Seldom seen Gottlieb woodrail (1950 Rockettes) in Indiana with $999 buy-it-now or best offer.

Atlantis and Sky Jump, $99 each starting bid in Florida

That "Atlantis" looks pretty rough. Poorly repainted, and a playfield that needs replacement. Lots of rust and crust, and wrong lockdown bar. Backglass doesn't look too bad. I wouldn't pay any more than $500 for that one.

#5509 6 years ago

I've always had bad luck in south Florida. Very hesitant on buying anything south of Tampa. The backglass on the SkyJump looks Ok. $323 was my max and am not interested in the Atlantis.

Hit and miss out of Florida with pinball machines but I definitely hesitate on buying anything from there these days. I was interested in Sky Jump too but $400.00 shipping kills the deal right off. That is a title that is too common and I will just wait for a trashed one to show up cheap locally in the near future.

Spin Out or Far Out/OoS cab

#5514 6 years ago

careful on the solar city. I believe it has a lot of mouse damage and pee smell. Go see it in person.

How can you tell? Does the Far Out cabinet have something unique?

I believe he just means it would go well with those themes?

The cabinet seems original to Baseball as if you look at the picture of the coin door you can see the red which matches up to IPDB photos

Nah,

Just joking around a bit.

Far Out and Out of Sight have the yellow and black checkered drop targets with a psychedelic bg - go figure? I thought a checkered head would be an interesting look to go with checkered drop targets - more fitting to a racing-themed game

I've got a lot on my plate right now. SkyJump playfield needs to be installed plus I need a repro backglass. I also need to bgresto my Ding Dong backglass and perhaps SkyRocket too.
That's why I'm thinking no new pinball purchases for awhile.

Gottlieb 1956 Classy Bowler:

This one is just too much.....in a couple different ways, price and logic.

This is a first for me anyways;"A child could fix this up in working condition". Whose child? What child can fix the mechanics and the playfield on your machine? Fine, get your child to fix it then! What makes people say crap like this? Unbelievable.

4 pins, only $25,000.00. Once again, Unbelievable. What, not even a discount for a bulk buy?

Reading the description;
he implies that all it needs to be fully working is a plastic set
some screws for rubber ring posts, a new playfield glass and a new power cord.

Course assuming its never been plugged in,
how could you determine if it functional and flipping,
unless the power cord is just frayed/cracked.

18 days since the last post ?! Is this thread running out of steam ?

Anyway, from the premium price division:

I'm uncertain as to whether that cab re-do replicates the original art. Does anyone think a cab that looks this new on a game this old seems somehow out of place, or not authentic ?

#5537 6 years ago

Not exactly On Topic, but my longtime bookmark for "threads you have participated in" (such as this one) no longer works.
[It had been

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/view/user-participated

which now brings up a general threads display]

Something must have changed at Pinside. Is there a successor URL ?

Personally I love a full paint restore on an EM that makes it look factory fresh "IF" it is done to factory specs or a little better. Looks like they did a good job on the paint except their yellow looks too golden, but most would not care as long as they like the new look and it is passable in my book if I was interested in buying it, which I'm not. The webbing looks fine and the red too IMO.

Sorry, I am not one of those guys who is into the "Patina" (BS statement used by many selling thrashed games -currently restoring a Gottlieb King Pin that falls into this catagory) that a lot EM's have become because of outright neglect. Now used and not abused is fine in my book with some scratches, yellowing, and color fade as I own one of those machines myself, my Gottlieb Surf Champ, and would be my first choice, but these machines are very hard to come by as it took me years to find one for a reasonable price.

Yikes! $350 for the Service Call plus 1 hour AND $150 to re-rubber.

I think I am working the wrong side of the fence.

Beware: "Lube Spray and Work all Step up units" Does that mean drown in WD40?

#5541 6 years ago

Yeah, it sounds like somebody got hosed on the service call, but WD-40 removal seems to be par for the course when you buy these old machines.

A pic of the playfield would have been nice, but looks to be a very nice example otherwise. One of the few Gottlieb multiplayers that has stood the test of time in my humble collection.

Guess I'm the deal of the day at $40.00 an hour. He could have had me work on his machine for 11+ hours. Bet the other guy only put in a couple hours then split.

It's been a while since I said wish I was closer, but damn! Perhaps the first machine with mechanical backbox animation.

1937 CC Mars has backbox animation. I believe there are other games earlier than this, but this is the earliest I have seen. Neat game.

#5545 6 years ago

Looks like there are at least 11 games with backbox animation before Mars, with the earliest being All-American Football in 1935.

There was one for sale somewhere recently, I believe it was in CT. I was eyeballing it lustily, but alas, it was gobbled up.

Really? Can't imagine that's one that turns up very often. I wouldn't even care if it was fun, it's just such a great piece of art.
