I wonder if that World Fair might be a victim of Hurricane Sandy? It looks restored judging from the webbing, so I doubt if it came out of a barn or anything. Water damage to the main cabinet might explain why only the top of the machine is for sale.

I hope someone here got this beautiful Cover Girl in Denver for $400:

#4967 10 years ago
Quoted from DirtFlipper:

I count at least 30 machines in there. Several seem to have the same sticker on the apron, so this might be an old operator stash. 60's and 70's titles in the mix too. Just wow.

Add in the 1950's too. There's 2 sets of wooden legs stacked on top a machine in the first photo.

Quoted from ccotenj:

at the risk of being serious for a moment... you raise a good point there... i gave my bestie (who is also the executor of my will) a list of all my "toys" (a/v, pins, all her crap, etc.) with an approximate value for each thing... if something should ever happen to swmbo and myself at the same time, at least this way he knows what he should expect to get when he liquidates our stuff...

It's no joke, and you're right to think about it.

About 15-20 years ago one of the biggest collectors of arcade pieces died out in California, and his kids flew in to deal with the house. Well, he had made a fortune riding the CA real estate market, so his house was worth a couple million, and it sold instantly when the kids listed it. The house was all the kids cared about. They were so frantic to empty the house and get back home they had a yard sale. They knew the big pieces had some value, so they took those to an auction, but all the small pieces sold for next to nothing.

What was even worse, all of his boxes and boxes full of spare parts and one of the biggest collections of original literature on the machines (a lot of it amazing one of a kind stuff) wound up in a dumpster.

Nice looking Frontiersman for $350 in Detroit:

detroit.craigslist.org link

#5725 9 years ago
Quoted from DirtFlipper:

o-din said:
At least we know there are deals to be had here in sunny So Cal. You've just got to be quick!

Game has already re-surfaced for sale on RGP for $1050. Probably still a good deal.

And already marked sold. California, land of opportunity.

#5728 9 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

eh, it sucks that the machine went to a flipper instead of somebody that actually would have taken it home and given it some love. And it will probably be flipped again.

I don't mind him flipping it, more power to him. It's just with the timeline I have this mental picture of him already furiously typing the ad on his iPhone while he's still in the seller's driveway.

Poor seller probably waved goodbye, went in to delete his Craigslist ad, and saw the machine already listed for sale right above his ad.

Oh well, don't hate the player, hate the game . . .

Williams Majorettes woodrail in Pennsylvania. Only $200, probably worth that:

Exhibit Playland. I can't imagine that he'll get anywhere near what he's asking, but it's certainly a beautiful machine:

Estate sale in Connecticut listing pinballs and arcade games. Probably a wild goose chase, but if you're close by it might be worth a look:

hartford.craigslist.org link

#6195 9 years ago

Yeah, I know, it's almost certainly a wild goose chase.

But-- it says pinballs (plural) and arcade games. That makes me think there *might* be something to it.

The other thing that makes my alarm bell ring is that the furniture in the ad is all funky colors and upholstery from the 60's and early 70's, and that's a really good sign that whatever they're selling has been there a while.

If I were close by, I would waste an hour going to see.

#6197 9 years ago

True story about estate sales. Probably 25 years ago one of the biggest collectors of coin-op pieces in the country died out in N. California. Huge collection of old arcade pieces, cast iron turn of the century stuff, and file cabinets full of manuals, sales literature, and factory letters, a lot of it one of a kind.

Well, his kids flew in to deal with the estate. He was sitting on a house worth several million, and it sold instantly. With the money from the house plus his cash and stocks, the kids were suddenly rich. That was all they cared about, and they didn't have a clue that Dad's stupid collection of games were worth anything. They had to get the house emptied fast, so they held a garage sale. They lined up his collection in the driveway and started selling it for pennines on the dollar. All of the rare paper items--they went into a dumpster.

Fortunately, another collector found out what was happening and got there in time to save the paper and shut down the sale before too many pieces had wandered off, but every time you see one of those ads and think it's a waste of time, remember that .0001% of the time it could be the find of your life.

Someone got a nice looking Daisy May for $225 in NY:

rochester.craigslist.org link

Hope it was someone on here that snagged it.

#6242 9 years ago
Quoted from DirtFlipper:

I hope you called and asked what others he has.

Of course, Mom didn't raise a fool. He sold the others too, no more pinballs.

Gypsy Queen in Vancouver:

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/van/clt/4555208529.html

If I knew how to deal with shipping and customs from Canada I'd be all over that one.

#6426 9 years ago
Quoted from manitouguy:

cjmiller, the gypsy queen has been listed here over and over for quite some time ... i don't think it is in the correct cabinet but i can't recall for sure ... also not sure of the quality of the local 'refurbish' - maybe i should go take a look ...

Thanks, that makes me feel better. Based on the Craigslist photo the playfield looked pretty good.

Someone in Kansas City needs to get on this Williams Arrow Head for $400/offer:

kansascity.craigslist.org link

Backglass is bad, and the cabinet looks like a (wrong color?) repaint, but I love the condition of the playfield.

(Yes, I'm talking to you, EMsInKC!)

Well, none of you stepped up, so I just bought it myself. Don't say I didn't give you a shot. Guess I'm driving to KC tomorrow.

Another nice Lady Robin Hood in Michigan:

detroit.craigslist.org link

#6736 9 years ago
Quoted from CactusJack:

It is interesting to see what a 50+ year operator saved or collected over the years. Must have had a soft spot for those flash slots (what they are calling console slots).

It's funny, all the old operators in my area held on to their flashers too. One has a semi-trailer full, and another has big storage building full of them. They hate bingo games with a passion, but they love those old flashers.

4 machine package deal in Kansas City:

http://kansascity.en.craigslist.org/tag/4586824624.html

Soccer, Heat Wave, Moulin Rouge, and River Boat. $500 each if you buy all 4.

#6746 9 years ago
Quoted from AlexF:

Thank goodness these are 7.5 hours away. Yes, I checked.

I'd like all of them.

Yes, but 4 machines means a drive of less than 2 hours per machine.

They're practically next door if you think of it that way.

1949 Gottlieb Double Shuffle - $750 (Seattle) seattle.craigslist.org link

Would anyone under 40 even know what that game is about? I haven't seen a shuffle board in a bar in 20 years. Has it died out everywhere or just in my part of the country?

#7840 9 years ago

Maybe a little new for this forum, but Coinop Warehouse has an NOS full populated Harlem Globetrotters playfield still in the crate:

https://www.facebook.com/coinopwarehouse

Also some NOS bingo playfields, an NOS Silverball Mania playfield, and an NOS Bow and Arrow playfield.

Word round the campfire is that the 50's jukes are all sold to a reseller back east. I see the ad is updated, and no more old jukes, so I assume this is right, right?

#13992 8 years ago

Well, as long as you're all excited about coming to Grand Island, Nebraska tomorrow, why not toss a woodrail or two into the truck and bring them to me? I'll meet you outside the building, buy the woodrails, and you'll have an empty truck and a pocket full of cash to attack that Craigslist sale with.

Nice looking Gtb Sharp Shooter (1949 machine) woodrail. Nice playfield and cabinet--too bad about the backglass. Looks like it might be a fun machine.

Quoted from jodini:

SOLD! The guy was nice enough to send me an email and let me know that someone picked it up. So who was it!?!!?

I don't know, but I'm glad. I'll be an hour from there on Monday morning, and I was worried that I would be forced to go get it.
