Rather than helping the player, I think the double flipper was designed as a deceptive way for an unwary player to lose the ball. Not a fan of them at all.

Once you get used to them on certain pins they are kind of fun. King kool/King rock is one.
Quoted from stashyboy:Don't you dare Frank! I lovingly restored that game, which was wicked nice to begin with! Came from a DMD guy north of Albany who wanted to flip it (for a fair price) No kick out hole wear!
Pin-up is going no where no mater how much"K" wants it.
Quoted from Otaku:Is Rancho that good of a game? I know NicoVolta really wants one as well. I love my 70's Williams multiplayers and they are very very solid games - but my Rancho sits in my garage disassembled, never tried it out yet. Picked it up for $100 or $200 a few months back, whatever it was. Guy calls me up and says "Want anything else?", so brought home an $80 Triple Strike too in mint condition and that ended up becoming the "main game" of the deal that got set up in my garage first, just dirty and missing the backglass. He had a Super Star for $80 too but I already had a mint one and wouldn't of had room in my truck anyways - no sleep lost over passing on that one.
He was headed to the area too so he delivered both (met him somewhere convenient for him about 15-20 minutes away) for that price as well from Connecticut.
Yes Rancho is a good game. I am not a fan of Williams at all, don't even own one. But...... after playing a nice example of Rancho in York last year, which was not for sale, I said that if one ever came up for sale at the right price and condition, within reasonable driving distance... I would pull that trigger. Me thinks it would look really nice next to a Gold Strike or a Lawman, any Gottlieb Western themed pin.
I am looking for a 1963 Williams Beat The Clock and have posted an ad in the marketplace if anybody knows of one for sale. Thanks!
Quoted from MarkD:Explain.
I believe he is talking about the ad that has 10 or so words misspelled.

Jim at Pinball Revival in Novato has one. I was at his shop over the weekend, and saw it in their storage.

Convenient...
Quoted from Otaku:Convenient...
Yeah, that's just like you driving down to Raleigh NC to pick up a game.
You don't have your location set on Pinside, how am I to know
Quoted from o-din:Yeah, that's just like you driving down to Raleigh NC to pick up a game.
Except you don't get all the cool "now entering this state" signs! (I'd probably have the nice weather and palm trees instead though... as I do believe you're from Southern CA, no?)

Like this one? I may call the guy anyway to see what's up although I've heard he's kind of pricey, as I haven't seen too many Beat The Clocks changing hands. Kind of odd for a game with 2100 units made. Maybe the owners just like to hang on to them.

My friend has two of them, one his dad bought him and his brother when they were kids, and a really nice one he bought as a collector. The playfield was so bad on the childhood one he painted it a maroon color and sectioned off some arrows/text on the playfield to not paint over. Plays great. Apparently he sold it or gave it away at one point but couldn't live without it.
Williams reverse-wedgehead list (in chronological order of release)...
Trade Winds
Friendship 7
King Pin
Vagabond
4 Roses
Big Deal
Swing Time
Skill Pool
Big Daddy
Beat the Clock
Soccer
Palooka
Heat Wave
River Boat
Wing Ding
Zig Zag
BTC is one of the better ones of the lot. Love the reverse-wedges... fast and furious!
I suspect it may have taken a hint from King Pin (Norm Clark's first game... note the similar 4-flipper spread). Any other 60's titles with this flipper layout?
Quoted from jrpinball:Rather than helping the player, I think the double flipper was designed as a deceptive way for an unwary player to lose the ball. Not a fan of them at all.
yeah I'm a quick study on my Aladdin's Castle. You have to let the ball bounce off the twin flippers when it's top of the lower flipper. When open those two flippers can be an easy drain.
Here's a very sought after wedgehead and great player.

ouch
$2500
This is a desirable collectible pin
but it does not command that much of a premium
IMHO
I inquired about the Fire Queen. I made them a respectable and generous offer only to have them curse me out. The person, if you want to call them that, thinks they have gold and sent me a link to the add from Pinrescue. "Game works, but needs adjustments 2,500" ...yeah I'll get right on that.
He had the firequeen listed last year. Obviously it never sold. The Playfield is not great on it either.

This Eldorado was listed on Ebay for $1995 and didn't sell so I guess he trying the Craigslist route.

Never knew that Ford Mustang came out in the 50s
or either that CCoin was physic.
but you are right, do not see this one often.

That's because the game came out in 1964 I love how these CL sellers always assume "50's". A good way to tell is if it's a woodrail or not. The big shift from woodrail to metal rail started in 1960 conveniently enough (thus being "60's"). So if it's "50's" - it's likely woodrail.
Looking closer at the PF and flyer for this CCoin game,
while the layout does not seem to be very fun
it did have two "ball saver" exit lanes (kickbacks)
on both right and the left outlanes and the revolving center target wheel
appears to be innovations
unless someone can come up with earlier pins with those features.
WMS Nags had the revolving table with pop bumpers
not sure about when kickbacks were introduced prior.
Without photos to confirm
ball saver
might actually be one where
once ball enters the out hole
it is kicked back up
to the PF between the flippers
(not unlike some italian AAB pins).

I sold a nice one for $1100...then again, I'm not a crook

Shooooot. I wish I lived near that machine. Expressway is a fun game. You can't go wrong at that price unless the playfield is trashed.
And one more....Here's a real nice one that just listed in NJ in the last 4hrs.

Yeah I went a few rounds with this Bozo. If Delusion was platinum he'd be stinking rich . I gave him a fair offer and he pulled the same crap quoting pin rescue. I sent him the Boston Pinball Ebay guide and never heard back.
I'm not certain the Boston Guide you speak of is relevant in this current Market. I would take it under consideration among many other factors.
I do agree this is a Pied Piper Price.

I was expecting another "Expressway", not a Williams "Stinker"! Seems like that game and it's 4 player sister "Funk Fest" have been growing on trees lately!

"A Go Go" I can dig. "Swinger", nah.

That's a pretty machine! The timing is horrible since I purchased another game incoming and I spent my allotted pinball funds.

It's a well guarded secret.
