Quoted from EMsInKC:

Have you ever played River Boat? I own it, have played Heat Wave, and IMO River Boat is better. It has one swinging target, but it has several ways of lighting the specials, plus a backglass animation.

I like my River Boat and it hard to light all those cards. I think I like Big Daddy and Trade Winds a bit better though. 4 Roses is no slouch either.

As far as swinging target games, with the overall geometry and amount of shots and strategy available, Magic Clock is the best one I've played so far. Even being a two player game.

#14302 8 years ago
Quoted from pinwiztom:

Right now the only WMS reverse wedgehead that i would rate higher than King Pin would be Heat Wave,
after playing both of Glen Peters' fine examples at his condo in Anaheim.

Glad I bought one of each from him, just in case. :p

#14303 8 years ago

Every Williams game mentioned is a winner. Big Daddy is my favorite of the ones mentioned. Heat Wave and River Boat are a tie for second place IMHO.

$2900 to ship this non-working game w/repro glass? Whoo... no thanks. It's not exactly a super-rare title with over 1000 produced and isn't that good of a player, either.

LOVE the theme, but I'd probably buy the repro glass by itself and duplicate the artwork onto a mural or custom wall hanging instead...

#14307 8 years ago

That is a fine looking Bally.
After working on my current Bally EM project, I think I really prefer them to Gottlieb for servicing. The score reels are nicer, the relay switches are easier to adjust, & the match unit is not a &&%^%@# Gottlieb "AS" relay.
not that I dislike Gotts, but I am impressed with Bally -

#14308 8 years ago

Just one of those titles that commands a high dollar. The fact that a repro backglass is available no doubt drove up the value. If no glass was available, I doubt it would have gone that high. Nice title, and one I wouldn't mind owning, but I'd rather spend that kind of dough on something else.
Do you know who got it?

#14309 8 years ago

I thought it might go a bit higher considering. Being from Wi I had 3 out of state collectors mention it to me. Glad I stayed home.

Had a great time hanging out with you and a ton of fun, so glad you could make it by 'The Alamo'.

Also glad you were standing right there when I had that break-out game on Heat Wave!

Those two big saves on the sides were key... and then to capitalize on them doesn't always happen.

#14311 8 years ago
Quoted from NicoVolta:

Glad I bought one of each from him, just in case. :p

Yes, hard to go wrong with those two titles.

Too bad NAVL doesn't ship "three" for one... you could have added Trade Winds to the mix.

Quoted from EMsInKC:

Have you ever played River Boat? I own it, have played Heat Wave, and IMO River Boat is better. It has one swinging target, but it has several ways of lighting the specials, plus a backglass animation. Heat Wave's thermometer is cool but I think RB is just a better player. I like Heat Wave a lot, I wanted one, but RB is a great player.

See, and I don't think River Boat is even close to being the "player" of a Heat Wave.

But that's only because of my interpretation of the word, that's all that is.

#14313 8 years ago

One can only guess who got that Star Jet.

Wish I could've been there...I left an absentee bid up to 1500 just because I've seen only one other come up for sale in the last 10 years.

Unfortunately for the new owner, Shay no longer has any Starjet backglass available and BGresto has not responded to my inquiries since before Christmas. Gonna be tough to replace the badly flaked one on this machine.

Still have a spot in the game room for a Starjet, I hope it's not another 10 years before I get another shot.

cheers,

rody

#14316 8 years ago

Wow, didn't know Shay sold out. I was going to buy one just to have it.

#14317 8 years ago

I just checked Shay's website. The "Star Jet" backglass has not been marked as "sold out", in fact it has a notation "new". Granted, he's not known to be current with his website.

That's what it said when I ordered Rocket, then he promptly sent me a refund. And that was over a year ago..

Yes, my wife tried to order me one in November as a Christmas present, money accepted.

Multiple emails followed over the next few weeks, no response.

After the new year, another email requesting shipping info produced a refund with no explanation. Follow up stated they sold out in early December.

Oh well.

#14320 8 years ago

Thanks, I almost ordered one today!

#14321 8 years ago

that is why I prefer ron webb. he keeps his site updated and when he says he is going to do a glass he gets it done in months.
shay on the other hand takes years. the only down side is ron tends to do the aab version over the replay on some titles.

#14322 8 years ago

One could only wish Shay had all the backglasses on his site still available.

#14323 8 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

he should do like ron, only list what is in stock and state 2 left when stock is low.

#14324 8 years ago

communication is definitely lacking with bgresto as has been discussed many times.
there's a guy in WA state that also does backglasses, similar process. i've had a backglass from both vendors and they're the same quality IMO.

Wish he would update his website as it must be at least a year or two out of date now.

Barn of games near me in the Seattle area. Can tell what all of them are -- can some of you identify the ones where you can only see the sides of the games?:

Hard to tell. Too distracted by King Pin.

Heck ya! With the looming thought of adding King Pin and Kings to my collection I had to free up some cash and space. So Captain Kidd and Lite-A-Card went down the road charlie this weekend. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Jive Time or Rock n Roll and what appears to be a Twin Win. No idea what the far one is.

#14336 8 years ago

Looks like a CC Speadway or Speed King driver.

Side art might be of an Artic Gun or maybe a shuffle bowler with that turquoise color scheme?

I see the side control panel of an Asteroids (the white on black spider web looking thing.)

Also, Gottlieb Counterforce.

Good Call on the Twin Win. Not much to go on if you don't own the machine.

If I can be of local assistance to anyone wanting to get that King Pin, let me know.

Oh, man! Don't tempt me. Have you seen any real pictures of it? I really just need to find that one around here. Shipping would be a deal breaker for me. Let it go to someone local up your way. We have more than our share of great EMs in the northeast.

I've only seen that ad. I emailed him to see where he's located exactly, but haven't heard anything yet. I'll keep the group posted if I hear anything.

Actually, i just looked at the area code on the posting. Down closer to you (503 area code; near Portland).

Blowing my wad on vacation!

Tough call though.

#14347 8 years ago

I had a lawman . Really did nothing for me . Picked up an Outer Space to replace it , OS is much more fun. Not a fan of the unbalanced playfield and the "Plinko" side lanes .

If anyone sees a Hearts & Spades please PM me, last EM on my bucket list.

i was tempted! i have a set of stencils and the correct paint leftover from another sheriff. it would of been an easy job. it was already sanded. i just have NO room
i couldn't squeeze in another if i tried. i have 3 getting ready to move out soon. no room until then

#14349 8 years ago

My dad brought over a local new paper with a Working Little Chief for $150 near Erie PA 814-453-5125. I have no more room.

AWESOME classic basketball game ... they need to get those back in stock. I have that game coming to me and happy it has the reproduction one in it already from the restoration.

I will keep my eyes open for you on finding one. Take care.
