So how do you find the location of that estate sale? I am in Beloit, WI now and may get off work early so I may be able to catch the end of the sale.

Per the ad. 9AM TIL 2PM 5645 NORTH MOODY IN CHICAGO. If you go let us know what you see.
Quoted from AlexF:But it's in Chicago on a Wednesday. Too bad they didn't post some pics.
Yeah, I would had to take off work, drive two hours, and hope there would be something worth the drive when I got there. It would be good to know what was there though. Hoov?
Too late anyway it looks like. The ad said 9am until 2pm today. If they would have provided a few more details it may have been more enticing. A game list or pics or a contact number or something. Like you say too much to speculate on for four hours of driving.
Of course then again, that one guy brave enough to take a chance may have come away with a great haul.

I didn't go up there either. I'm guessing some folks in the Chicago area closer to the sale than us checked it out.
Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:That royal guard is a steal at 250
Quoted from gottem:Guess what? It's already been around the block a few times too. At least the third relist. Somebody just go get it already. Please!
Well I just happen to be in the area with my empty van so I took that as karma and went to take a look.
Opinion please.
Playfield was ok, some wear between the slings and most inserts.
Missing the left snap target.
Backglass - the reds gone as typical in the title and the guards coats. Some yellows also.
Cabinet had been repainted by hand - freestyle. Not horrible but the colors are all off a shade or two, some blue and red edges are a bit jagged and no webbing.
Play was ok, all seem to work - was not level or pitched correctly but everything seemed reasonable.
So I think the 250 is about its top value as a player, maybe a tad high due to bg and cab paint. Would prob need to stay about as it is as I have no time to redo the cab and don't think the value is their to do a bgrestoro. The space I have is getting full and something will need to leave soon. Thoughts.
And Yankees fan in central Maine, who knew! - ball caps not included.
Thanks
Tom
250 still not bad. Agreed on the cabinet & glass. isn't there a repro done by Webb or Shay ? Sorry, I'm not a fan of BG resto just my own personal taste for original style backglass
I think you'd get $250 worth of fun out of it in no time. Royal Guard is a blast. I had one for awhile and it really surprised me how fun it was. I know as a collector we tend to become increasingly fussy about the little things. But reality is you don't need to take every one to the grave with you. The nice thing about games like these is you can enjoy them as a player for awhile and pass it on to the next guy. With some fine tuning maybe even make a little. In my area there are always homeowner types just looking for a game like this that plays well for their basement.
Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:I'm not a fan of BG resto just my own personal taste for original style backglass
I would use BG resto if there weren't any other repro BGs available or repair my own.
Webb or maybe shay did a royal guard but no longer listed so I assume they are gone. So either I would live with or bgresto as I would only make it worse - the enemy of good is better.

Ask them anyway. Steve Engel did have a nice original BG that wasn't listed when I asked him.
Quoted from o-din:it sure seems like craiglist has been fished out around here.
All Odin has to do is say that and the games will start pouring in again.

You should see the clunker (not lunker) I fished out yesterday!

Only $50. I'd check that out if it was local.

Now you need an eyepatch and parrot.

I can't remember if I ever saw one either but for $400 I rolled the dice and picked a winner. Mike had done a lot to bring it back to life but it still needs some TLC.
Another one of those machines that probably hadn't been played since the 70s. But I got it working and we played it a bunch last night before other problems like steppers not advancing surfaced, but those can be easily fixed. I think it will stay around for quite some time as it is a blast to play.

That looks pretty nice actually. Maybe left flipper hanging low, sign there's other neglect perhaps? First GTB drop target game!

& it sold @ $4795 ?
Ah, you never forget your first. My 4 Aces was a real beater and I'm not sure even in fine condition I'd consider it good looking. With that said I sort of miss that quirky game.
Quoted from D-Gottlieb:What would be a normal price for that machine?
$650 for good working one? maybe mint $1000 tops...they are fairly easy to find being the 4p they made a ton of them.
Quoted from gottem:Spin A Card, one owner since 1975 (!!!) $300

Damn, 916 miles away.. ROAD TRIP!!
Quoted from John_in_NC:Damn, 916 miles away.. ROAD TRIP!!
Dunno about that. Do that math on gas alone (not to mention tolls), 30 mpg is 30 gallons x $2.50 = $75. So $150 rt + tolls and at least one overnight (right?!!) STI is probably only $400 or even a bit less to your door and you don't have to blow a weekend. Upside is you get the game immediately, and it is already Friday
Probably cheaper to have it shipped if the seller is willing to but where's the fun in that? I like road trips. Driving to St Louis for another one this week. I like an excuse for a road trip. Windshield time is sanity time for me.

That said, Looking like I have a deal pending.
Anyone in the Maine area able to help a brotha out and boost it southbound?

Assuming his story is true - I have a feeling you will be very happy with the condition, it was only "out there" six years or less. CL pics always too small. Have you gotten better ones you can share?
