3 games in Syracuse:
syracuse.craigslist.org link

"Three pinball machines. One is Gottlieb, Super score, one or two players, works for $400, Another is Williams, Palooka, works for $400. The last one is Gottlieb, King Arthur, non working, needs to be restored for $150.00.
Also have Roller Bowlers, believe they came from Sylvan Beach."

Seems worth pursuing!
(The Super Score looks repainted, but the Palooka might be nice)

I don't know anything about them, they are very dusty and look to have been here over twenty years. I see a packman joust warlords tron sprint spy hunter qbert 720 buggy and two I can't get to. There are a few pinball machines way in the back too but I can't see what they are. You must take everything, no pickers."

Me too. You see some crazy asking prices on them. I can't believe anyone is going to pay $3800 for one with a bad back glass? I'm not sure that very nice but insanely priced Flying Turns on Ebay is helping matters.

yea, i've never seen one without a crazy asking price, regardless of condition... not that they show up all that often...

went and looked for that "flying turns"... it is VERY nice but it is VERY insanely priced, i agree... although given the seller, probably not surprising...

#9763 9 years ago

In 2008 one (Race Way) sold at an auction I was at. It needed a back glass badly. It went for $800 if memory serves me and I thought it was a hefty sum at the time. Everything is relative though as a friend bought a project Skill Roll that day for $400.

#9764 9 years ago

I was at an auction last year where a Flying Turns sold for 2500 (I bailed at 2000). Phone bidder drove it way up, otherwise I think I'd have had it for 1200. Friend of mine here got it though, but he later resold it for only a bit more.

There was a very nice Race Way on CL in PA last year for ~1800 (IIRC), that lingered awhile before selling.

Once you slide the nuclear core out of the base, and take out the playfield, and remove the head, it's not that bad, really

I wonder if that was the Short Stop Deluxe that was on Mr. Pinball next to it. Missing the lockdown and pitching motor or something. Good thing it's so far away.

That's what I get for skimming. Oh well, now there are pics for posterity.

#9785 9 years ago

I inquired about the Palooka today, but haven't heard back. I studied the fuzzy pictures a bit and suspect the back glass may have some issues the seller either isn't aware of, or chooses to ignore in his description......

#9786 9 years ago

Palooka is a great game!

Rumor is Big Ben Revisited.. shhhh

I have one sitting in my garage, every time I look at the playfield I say meh, and go back inside.

Big Ben is a good source for:

Lock Down Bar, Coin Door assy, Score Motor, Drop Targets, Odd Jet Bumper Caps.

Otherwise, there is not much value in one as a whole.

I originally bought it to convert to a virtual pin for those reasons. Just haven't had to heart to do it. Maybe if I played it then it would be easier to dismantle.

#9793 9 years ago

after reading the above posts regarding big ben, i had to go read the reviews on IPDB. pretty harsh ratings. too bad, i like the artwork and theme.

#9794 9 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

I should clarify: it needs mechanical restoration. Its internals probably haven't had any exercise in a decade or more.

The art is pretty cool, has a cool 70's british theme, Maybe I can make a nice clock out of the playfield.

EDIT: Also of note is that it's a Christian Marshe theme, same guy who did the pointy people.
