Quoted from Aurich:more like sharing what's out there, swapping opinions, and learning prices.
New to the hobby, and to Pinside, but that's what I thought this thread was all about. I can pretty much figure out on my own that anything lasting more than 24 hours on Craigslist is probably over priced. I love following the EM thread even though I'm not really interested in collecting EMs right now just because the collective wisdom of this group is such a great source of information. I was hoping this thread would be the same thing for early SS.
If something is listed at a good price and it's over an hour old my experience has been that I'm already number 2 or 3 in line (at least around here). Sorry if my posting stepped on a deal somebody was working.
Williams Big Guns Pinball Machine - Just Serviced - Works 100% (Louisville) $1750
louisville.craigslist.org link
There's a Big Guns in the Pinside market today too for $1600. Guess everybody just woke up an decided to sell their Big Guns today. I've only been watching for a couple of months but it's funny how a particular title will seem to show up in clumps sometimes.
Quoted from dmbjunky:I was checking out your want ad, what's the deal with those DVDs?
Randy Fromm ran an Arcade Repair School back in the 90s and 00s. It taught basic electronics and troubleshooting skills to operators so they could get their machines back running and sucking up quarters. He video taped a number of his classes and offered them for sale as a alternative to attending his school. After the last VCR was destroyed he offered these as DVDs. (Yeah, I know. I still have one in the attic too.)
General consensus seems to be that the information from the school was a good starting point and that he had some valid tips and tricks for troubleshooting the electronics in video games and pinball machines. Of course the arcade industry dried up, and I guess he stopped selling the DVDs a number of years ago. I understand he now offers similar classes for troubleshooting slot machines and video gambling devices.
The information is dated, but so are the machines I'm trying to collect so I figure it's still relevant in that respect.
There are some videos from his basic electronics class on youtube. Search for Randy Fromm.
"EIGHTBALL" Pinball Machine - $1100 (madison)
madison.craigslist.org link
I'm pretty sure this is a re-list.
I put a lot of quarters in this one back in the day. Brings back fond memories, but I'm not sure if I want to own one - especially at this price. Granted, this guy put a ton of work in and the machine seems to be a beauty. Pinside puts the value of this machine much lower.
pinball machine williams flash very clean - $650 (valparaiso)
chicago.craigslist.org link
Looks like a pretty clean machine. I just have a real hard time getting past the lame artwork on this title.
Solar Fire Pinball Machine - $1200 (Freeport)

"Missing 4th player Digital score display and right flipper on lower level "soft" but easily repaired."
Williams Alien Poker Pinball Machine - $475 (Chicago)
chicago.craigslist.org link
Good looking playfield. Recently stopped working.
Quoted from dmbjunky:What would that record have on it? The soothing sounds of Gorgar? or it could be like those children's books I had that came with a record and tells the story of Gorgar.
Curiosity got the best of me. It was a marketing pitch featuring the voice of Gorgar and promoting the breakthrough technology in the game. An interesting piece of pinball memorabilia. How else do you introduce the first pinball game that talks?
Pinbot for $850 in WI. Lots of wear in the chest panel lights, but everything else looks pretty good.
Mr & Mrs Pac-Man - $500 in Peoria, IL
Pics aren't great, but it doesn't look like it's been cleaned in a while.

Gottlieb Sinbad - $350 (Grand Rapids, MI)
Will need some work. Starts up and gets going fine but doesn't stay on.
Can't tell much about the condition from the picture.
Black Hole Pinball Machine - $1200 (Naperville)
Semi-working. Ball doesn't kick out to the shooter lane.
Price drop - $1050
Solar Fire - $1595 (Elgin, IL)
OP: This solar fire works 100%, has a new rotten dog cpu and new rotten dog high power board. Also have reproduction back glass, that will go with. Works 100% some led's installed.
Quoted from dmbjunky:Whoa. That sounds a lot like this one I posted a couple of weeks ago.
Good catch. I didn't make the connection. The CL ad says Elgin and there's no map, but a little research shows the contact info is actually for a pinball guy in Rock Island (quad cities). I think he lists a lot. Wonder if he grabbed it for a quick flip?
