"Pinball machines"
Hhhhm, someone report back...
Quoted from HighVoltage:Middle Earth Pinball Machine - $500 (napa county)
sfbay.craigslist.org link
What is this? Some made-for-home machine? No display on backbox? Offset flippers? Curious...
The displays are in the apron, this is an Atari machine
Quoted from Otaku:The displays are in the apron, this is an Atari machine
Yeah, noticed that after posting too. I've never come across an Atari like that, would be interesting to see and play. Display still seems odd: how can that show score?
Oh, that is another display on the left... cool. Might actually be easier to track your score there. Airborne Avenger looks slick: I want to play.
Quoted from HighVoltage:Oh, that is another display on the left... cool. Might actually be easier to track your score there. Airborne Avenger looks slick: I want to play.
It's the best of the batch as it was Steve Ritchie's first design. Superman was a different system.
The others were a lot like many cocktail pinballs. Just not much purpose behind the designs.
1978 Playboy Bally's Pinball Machine (Mint) - $800 (Aurora)
Needs to sell, there's an opportunity... Seems this title usually has crazy asking price...
WONDERFUL TWO DAY SALE IN MORGANVILLE / MARLBORO (MARLBORO / MORGANVILLE)
There is a FirePower buried in there. It only needs a fuse! What a surprise... but sometimes situations like this it's actually true!
Bally Pool Sharks Pinball Machine - $1300 (Liberty)

Damn, there's a lot of pool-themed pins. Who can name them all by memory? I wonder if this is the most popular theme... maybe Poker Cards...
1977 Prospector Pinball Machine - $875 (Keansburg)
No pic... guessing this is SS...

That's either a scam or a REALLY good deal. Wish I was closer.
Quoted from hotwheelerguy:That's either a scam or a REALLY good deal. Wish I was closer.
Exactly. Can that POSSIBLY be real???
Quoted from HighVoltage:Damn, there's a lot of pool-themed pins. Who can name them all by memory? I wonder if this is the most popular theme... maybe Poker Cards...
I'll give it a shot... 8-Ball, 8-Ball Deluxe, Solids & Stripes (also came up recently for sale), this Pool Sharks, Cue Ball Wizard, Sharkys Shootout, Breakshot, Kelly Packard something-or-other. Any others?
Can anyone name more than 8 of a single theme by memory? Card-based maybe?
Vintage Kiss Pinball Machine Up For Auction!!

There's a lot of racing themes. Indy 500, Mario Andretti, Checkpoint, Nitro Groundshaker, Nascar, Grand Prix EM, Stern Grand Prix, Dale Jr., Stock Car, Struggle Buggies, Full Throttle and then there's a few more car themes with racing elements like Corvette, Mustang, Viper Night Drivin'. All from memory.
Don't forget
Pit stop
Spin out
Twin win
Auto race
Flying turns
Speedway
Top speed
Checkpoint
Plus a bunch of euro f1 pins I've never seen in person.
There's more, just look at my collection and wish list, but I sell believe the card theme wins out.

Oh man! Twin win was the one I was trying to remember but couldn't. I love that playfield.
Quoted from Black_Knight:There's more, just look at my collection and wish list, but I sell believe the card theme wins out.
I looked up Cards on IPDB and there were 186 matches. Surprisingly I looked up Horse and there were 197 matches. Maybe we need Stern to make a new horse racing theme. Model it after the recent triple crown winner.

Manufacturer: Allied Leisure
Game/Type: Dyn O' Mite / SS 2 Player
Month/Year: November 1975
Production: Unknown
Cost: $850 on CL $800 on Pinside
Location: Ballston Falls (Albany), NY
Link/Contact: albany.craigslist.org link
Link/Contact: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/fs-pintastic-dyn-o-mite-allied-leisure-1975
Condition: You know this has been restored properly and well worth the price. OP: "Here is an Allied Leisure Dyn 'O Mite for sale (also written as Dynomite). This is one of the first solid state games ever produced and it preceded any of the electronic games manufactured by Bally, Stern, Williams, and Gottlieb. It is a historically significant piece of pinball history. Productions numbers are unknown and working examples of this game appear to be very rare.
The playfield artwork features actor Jimmy Walker saying his catch phrase, "Dyno-mite!" from the TV show "Good Times".
I'm ready to pass this along to a new owner to enjoy, so $850 or the first reasonable offer gets it.
Many, many hours of work went into bringing this game back to life, and thus far, it has been very reliable and problem-free. Don't miss out on the chance to own this interesting piece of pinball history!
Surprisingly, this is a fairly fast game to play, has good flow, and challenging shots to keep you on your toes, especially since all the drop targets operate independently of each other, and outlane gates can be opened & closed after hitting certain targets. The flippers are strong and snappy.
All the technical documentation is included--the manual, theory of operation guide, and schematics. Additionally, I wrote up pretty much all the repair info you see on pinwiki, so that supplementary information is available as well.
A few spare circuit boards and a spare display are included.
This game has been disassembled, cleaned, and shopped. Many problem areas with this game system have also been addressed with the intention of trying to make it as reliable as possible.
Since 90% of the original barrel connectors were corroded, all of the barrel connectors have been repinned (that's over 400 individual pins!)
The backglass is perfect--no scratches, flaking, or peeling of any kind.
The displays are fully working and all the segments light up properly.
The playfield is in nice condition overall, but has a few minor flaws--a couple small dings and some very minor wear.
The playfield has been stripped down and cleaned. Magic erasers have been used on the playfield. There have been some black line touch-ups done. The playfield has been waxed with Blitz.
A new pop bumper cap has been installed. The original is included, but is slightly melted from the heat of the bulb.
PETG washers have been installed under all the plastics to help protect them from any potential damage.
The post holes on the two large upper plastics have been enlarged at some point to fit onto the post holes--either at the factory (since the posts haven't moved) or by a previous owner. It isn't really noticeable unless you're looking closely.
New foam pads have been installed behind all the standup targets.
Most of the original electrolytic capacitors have been replaced to ensure reliable game operation.
The original 5v fixed regulator was faulty and has been replaced with an adjustable 5v regulator and a new circuit to handle the adjustments.
All the playfield lamp sockets have been replaced. The coin door lamp sockets have been replaced. There were no problems with the backbox lamp sockets, so those are still original.
All the bulbs have been replaced with brand new #44 bulbs. The blinker bulbs are original GE-branded #455 bulbs.
All the coil sleeves have been replaced.
Two bad coils were replaced (outhole kicker coil and one of the chime coils).
The original faulty fuse holders have been replaced with reliable modern holders.
The original flipper bats have been replaced with NOS flipper bats and bushings from a generation 2 game, since generation 1 parts are unavailable. There are cosmetic differences between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 flipper bats, but there is no change in gameplay.
I reproduced the flipper decals (I'll make the files available after the show)
NOS flipper buttons have been installed.
NOS plastic 50 cent coin plates have been installed on the coin door and backed with mylar to prevent scratches on the paint. The original 25 cent plates are included, but have some wear and scratches in them and didn't look quite as nice.
The coin door, chime assembly, and tilt bob assembly have all been fully disassembled and cleaned.
The lockbar has been cleaned, buffed, and waxed, and new beer seal has been applied.
New playfield glass has been installed.
I reproduced the instruction & score cards to be as identical to the originals as possible.
A Free play switch is stacked on top of the credit button. Easily disabled/removed if coin play is desired. If there is more than 1 credit loaded and you hold the credit button for too long, it will start a 2-player game (this is not an actual fault with the game, but the way it was designed. It might be able to be fixed with a timing delay circuit, like the ones present for the coin switches).
The cabinet has a few issues. There are some scratches and gouges and a few minor mismatched touch-ups done by a previous owner.
All game logic and playfield mechanisms are working 100%."

That is an awesome collection. I have a love for all of the Gottlieb games of that era for their cheese and unique layouts.
Quoted from dmbjunky:That is an awesome collection. I have a love for all of the Gottlieb games of that era for their cheese and unique layouts.
It might be an awesome collection, but I don't feel like that's a bulk deal at all, especially given the general lower value of System 3 games. For being expected to buy them all at once, you'd need to know you could turn around and sell any one of them for what you paid. I'd want want a deal like this to be under $1k per pin. Otherwise you're paying market value or more per pin, so what's the point?
Also, (though I guess he did qualify it by saying full size production machines) it's not "all" System 3 games. It's missing Mushroom World off the top of my head, and technically Caribbean Cruise would count.
There are 33 per IPDB:

I didn't really look at the price. I was just commenting on the games.
That's $1800 per game which is high for most of them. I'd say only Stargate is worth more. Maybe Freddy and Waterworld, and Barb Wire for it's rarity. If they were all in very nice condition though, like collector quality, I'd say it's worth it. It'd be hard to find all of these games at once again. Hoops is pretty rare.

Hey I bought that one Pecos!
Congratulations dmbjunky! Vacation America is a very interesting sounding game and only 13 years old! I'm glad it went to a Pinsider and even more glad it went to someone so deserving.
I brought it home in the Jeepster last night. For as little is in the box the thing is still heavy.
Playfield looks pretty good but dirty. One sling plastic broke. There was a post between the inlane/outlane that was half out. One pop bumper isn't firing. I should send the playfield to Neo to clearcoat just to make him mad.
IMG_0205[1]_(resized).JPGIMG_0204[1]_(resized).JPGIMG_0203[1]_(resized).JPG
The art on the backglass is pretty neat Paul Faris work. It's real glass too.
For the most part it looks pretty good. In the Todd Tuckey vid, his has a black apron where mine has a decal and his has a weird tilt where mine has a tilt bob. Everything has that old comic book style dot printing.
Shooter lane to drool over.
Cabinet looks new. It's very solidly built. Probably the best thing about it buildwise.
Rusty, rusty ball
The game is pretty simple. I like the music and callouts. They aren't great but they fit the theme. It has some snappy flippers. It seems unfinished in the code department though. There are no Jackpots or purpose for multiball. The map is cool and I haven't reached the end but I can safely assume there are no wizard modes. It might be the perfect game for a P-ROC. Add a few objectives, a high score record, multiplayer, maybe a Wizard mode and it could be a fun game. The layout isn't bad.
This was my post in the VA club thread.
It's got a display with two rows of 10 digits in the lower left corner of the backglass. Next to that is a lamp board that lights up locations on the backglass in red to show where you need to travel and green to show where you have traveled. It's pretty cool game. Well constructed in some areas but kind of cheap in others. There are no switch stacks that I've noticed. It's a mixture of IR sensors and micro switches. It'd be neat if I could get it in a tourney somewhere.
Where's that "jumping the shark" pic that was floating around?
I think I just saw a shooter lane pic for a Vacation America on here.
(What kind of vehicle are you using? I'd swear that's the back of an old Jeep Commando.)
