Quoted from chuckwurt:

Hardbody is on my watchlist too.

I like my Hardbody. It's a lot of fun with inline targets, two banks of targets and a horseshoe loop all on the top level. Some people don't like the "Flex Save" that diverts the ball from the outlane back into play but I really like them. I'm not a fan of the theme but that's not important to me. I wouldn't own one though if I had kids.

Quoted from jwilson:

Replace them with WPC mechs.
Strange Science is on my list for new cabinet art when I get through my repair backlog.

What's the problem with Bally flipper mechs?

You could always get the European Backglass if you're modest.

Monte Carlo $750

I hate that backglass.

"...has alternative back glass..."

There are two other translites:

Thanks for the Hardbody alt translite. I don't have kids so the "racy" translite can stay.

The original Gottlieb has a silly charm. The alts just look tacky.

That dude in the background shouldn't work with such heavy weight. Might hurt himself.

Is it a dude?

I thought I'd post this. It's been on CL awhile but the price is starting to get in the manageable range.

He updated the ad. Sounds like he realized he underpriced it a bit for the Chicago market (I'm not sure a non-booting Blackout would be worth a lot more than $450 elsewhere) and is informally auctioning it off among the interested parties.

I would tell him to get lost if I was one of them.

You know alot of people start off just wanting to "get rid of the thing".
Then, by whatever reason, they come to know that "the thing" carries some value.
Now all of a sudden it becomes a machine of worth and in fair, good, clean or even excellent condition.
Now instead of clearing space and picking up some spare change they see dollar $ighn$.
Funny how that happens. Human nature I suppose.

@DMB I remade the backglass for City Slicker. I think the art is pretty cool on that game. It would be fun to make some new cabinet art. If you decide you want to do it in the future I know someone that would probably be interested. Could help keep the cost down making more than one set.

@pecos & chuckwort I'm working with some friends on a total retheme of Hardbody based on their comic Lake Erie Monster. They have been working on it very very slowly but it has given me time to work out the process of the retheme on other games. I'll probably move everything into a plywood cab instead of the cheap particle board one.

They feel clunky to me. Just replacing the flipper bats with the generic williams ones seems to help.

#669 8 years ago

Already gone? I'm guessing it's the same one listed in PNW thread about a month ago...

#670 8 years ago

Looked like a nice one
For $3500 I bet it went quick

That might be the best thing you could do to Hardbody. Actually, the art on the playfield is okay, but whoever came up with the idea of plaid on the playfield??

hardbody_original_side_rails.jpghardbody_original_side_rails.jpg

That might be the next best thing you could do to Hardbody. I had a problem with the cheap plywood side rails that hold the playfield up in the cabinet. Wear caused the upper playfield to constantly slide back into the cabinet. I glued two pieces of flooring hardwood together and cut some steel to fit and screwed the whole assembly into the cabinet. A bit of overkill, I know, but I won't have that problem ever again!

Yeah I had a seller do that with a Diner recently. He wanted an offer after posting it for $500 because he offers from other buyers. It was priced to cheap at $500, but I didn't want to play that game. I wasn't that interested.

I'm with you. I'd say that Blackout was priced right if it doesn't work. He may be able to milk a 100 bucks more but it wouldn't be worth the trouble for me.

#673 8 years ago
Quoted from dmbjunky:

More moving, touching parts than WPC, harder and more expensive to find parts for. They also seem inherently weaker.

Is that the going price? I inquired when I saw it in the PNW thread but that seemed on the high side to me. No one on Pinside jumped on it, but maybe on CL someone did...

Just paid $450 for a non-working Blackout. Powered on and lights up but didn't boot. Seen two more for same price in past couple of months. So yes it was priced right unless it had a minty mint playfield and backglass.

Elektra $1950

He had previously listed it somewhere in the range of $800-$1200.

Another of the "Oops! Priced too low" scenarios that make Chicago CL a drag.

That's seems a little high though. What is the price range on that pin and why, if it's high, is it higher than other pins from similar era?

Elektra is a three playfield game, though there isn't nearly as much interest in it as Haunted House.

I think his previous price was $800. I think FMV is around $1200.

Don't know where he got the idea to put it back up for $2k.

I picked up mine for $450 - but it could really use a new translite. Great drop target pin!

Elektra does tend to sell closer to $2k. Some pins are just more desirable to people.

Tried to work out a trade---no more room for pins on my end. Unfortunately, he's only looking for a Sorcerer or project Taxi in trade. Some day.
