Why would you replace your transformer?
Age has nothing to do with it.
I personal would just buy a new driver board, there not that expensive.
Are you sure you don't have your solenoid plug on backwards?
Had that problem on a stern where wrong coils were firing,
found out plug wasn't keyed and flipped over.
