    400 degrees sounds extremely low. I solder regularly with my Hakko at 650. And it goes upto around 900.

    No yours is fine. It is indeed on a celsius scale. Goes up to 900 F.

    If your still having problems after utilizing all the other suggestions then change to a larger chisel tip. New preferably.
