Hello fellow Pinsiders,
I have the opportunity to purchse a Mata Hari and or a Gorgar. Both are in nice shape and similarly priced.
All things being equal as far as condition.
Which one would you purchase and why.

Quoted from Elevatorman:Here is the one I finished about a month or so ago.

Looks beautiful! How much are you asking?
I've had all three. Jungle Lord stayed, the others left. Pharoah just isn't fun, code feels unfinished. Solar fire is okay but it gets grindy.
Jungle lord is superior to Pharoh and solar fire.
Jl has the better rule set, better shots, better magna save. I obsessed with Solar fire, had one for a few years, don't miss it. Jungle lord is about to get a full restore and will never leave.

Thank you for your input.
Well taken.

Please make a thread!
And also tell us where to get plastics!
Quoted from alexmogil:I'm lost.
What games are you looking at again?
Jungle Lord, Pharoah, or Soler Fire?
Quoted from Ron-13:Jungle Lord, Pharoah, or Soler Fire?
Right, but your first post says Mata Hari and Gorgar.
Anyway: Jungle Lord!

I've been thinking about that! Just got a NOS Jungle Lord playfield that is getting cleared by Ron Kruzman and I'm having plastics made, should be getting several sets.... we'll see how it all turns out.

Thanks, sorry, it came out this way from my phone, and left my glasses in my car.

The art on pharaoh is pretty eye catching but i think jl has more to offer as game itself. As frustrating as the mini playfield can be it is always exciting activating it. Also getting to double trouble with the advancing drops and a timed multi ball are unique features. I don’t have enough time on solar to rate it

Quoted from Black_Knight:BK is the hardest
Solar Fire best art
I'd give BK's backglass the edge over the other three, hard to top that one. If it's lit the way it was intended to be anyway.
I don’t get the Jungle Lord love ... I had a blue one and a red one, both gone. Kept the others much longer but now they’re all gone.
My personal preference:
Solar Fire
Pharaoh
Black Knight
jungle Lord
YMMV

I knew I saw this somewhere before
Quoted from rotordave:I don’t get the Jungle Lord love
Because it’s the only one out of them that’s actually good? Haha.
It's the rules. So many ways to get points, 10x bonus count down is the most satisfying in pinball, double trouble, double playfield score, drain save, magna throw.
Jungle lord is hands down the best pin without a pop bumper. No question.
Art is kinda dumb, sure, but the gameplay blows Solar fire out of the water.
Solar fire art with the Annie lennox 80's chicks is great, game gets old fast tho.

Those games all blow.
They def caused a stir when they came out and made some coin but at the end of the day games with half a playfield Just aren’t that fun.
I’ll go with Pharoah though, best theme and the art and speech is super cool.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:They def caused a stir when they came out and made some coin but at the end of the day games with half a playfield Just aren’t that fun.
Yeah, whenever little kids are playing my games I always steer them away from the two level games as they just don't seem to be able to see that upper playfield. Adults never seem to have that problem, at least at my house.

JL's art is so terrible, I don't think people want to stand in front of it.
The rules are the most complex for a sys7 and they aren't spelled out well. You have to play it a while to figure it out, and most people aren't willing to do that.
It is a great tournament game.
Quoted from Methos:Black Knight and Solar Fire are the two best. If JL was so good, why is it always the cheapest?
Because it looks like ass. This is true with every pinball ever. If it doesn’t look the part, no one wants it.

they made 6,500 jungle lords, less than 800 Solar fire. Bk has the name recognition.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Those games all blow
Yeah, pretty much.
Which is why I no longer have any of them.
The fun factor dissipated quickly ...
Pharaoh and Battlestar ... errr ... Solar Fire did stay the longest.

For anyone interested, My Solar Fire and Pharaoh will be for sale soon.
By them both then you can post here with real data.

Cyclopes looks like ass in many ways - many people want it.

So does Krull. You’re confusing rare and ugly with plentiful and ugly.

Good point. Jungle Lord is still better.

Dude, don't be stepping all over my free ad.

Flash is ugly as hell, and it does ok. I believe art can help or hurt a title, but ultimately it's the game play.

Totally agree. But for games that there are plenty of, the ugly ducklings don’t carry high prices. Jungle lord and flash are great games that have always been cheap.
Rare changes everything. Ugly or not.
Quoted from Black_Knight:Dude, don't be stepping all over my free ad.
Sorry bud, somebody buy his games! They are fun, don't listen to jerks like me.
How's that?
B
I personally went for a JL. Yes it's the least attractive to look at but it's the cheapest and has the most interesting rules IMHO. I also factor in the nostalgia factor. While some might hate those sounds, I do love them as I played BK and Defender quite a lot when I was younger.
Late to the party, but in any case, there's a home ROM for JL. Takes care of the endless trumpeting and makes the bagatelle more fun: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/announce-jungle-lord-new-tricks-home-rom
