I have a Solar City from Gottlieb that was working fine.  That was until I used a flexstone to clean some switches on the score motor.  I only cleaned the top two rows so most likely D ans E rows (may be some on row C).  Since then the machine won't move from ball 1 to ball 2 like it  had an extra ball.   If I manually move the coil in the back box to player 2 then the ball count moves up from ball 1 to 2 for example but then it won't move to the next ball when player 1 is done.  So it seems to be a player 1 issue.  I have the drawings but can't figure it out.  Any ideas?

Sorry but that was a mistake. This forum is full of posts from people who tried shotgun cleaning & adjustments, and caused more problems than they were originally trying to solve.

If the Add Player Unit relay (P) doesn't activate when the ball goes across the Trough switch, Inspect and diagnose this circuit with Alligator clip jumper wires

Thanks and yes it was a stupid mistake. I'll have a look. Just to be clear tough the issue is with the machine not going to ball 2 for Player 1. If I manually move to Player 2 when done the machine goes to ball 2 for Player 1 but does not go to either ball 3 or Player 2.

HowardR, does relay P also increase the ball count? I haven't tested anything yet. Just curious as this relay is called "add player unit relay"?

Yes.

Because it advances the Player Unit through this circuit during normal game operation.

There's some good background info on the subject of the player unit and coin unit, skip down to "Player Unit Theory of Operation":

HowardR, turns out the P relay activates when the ball goes across the Through switch.

If the Add Player unit solenoid doesn't activate when the Add Player Unit relay (P) does, Inspect and diagnose the circuit I hilited in post 5 (above) with Alligator clip jumper wires

HowardR ans DaMoib, thank you. Problem solved, it was switch 2C that was the culprit.
