Depends on the game but I set them to 5 ball minimum and at times higher if I have time for a long game. I play for me and don’t give a steaming crap what anyone thinks about it. 
I just wish my LOTR could go higher than 5 balls. About the only way I will ever see Valinor. lol
The real question is how do you change your settings to make the gameplay more appealing. Settings can have more of an effect than number of balls.
