I've been on here a little over a month now and I'm curious how many other collectors are out there that get the greatest thrill out of having a really rare pin.
Nothing against the popular pins, I love playing them as much as anybody else. But most of them can easily be found if you have enough money to throw at them. And you can play any one of them at any pinball show.
I'm talking about the kind of pins you can only find if some guy in Croatia or Brazil decides to rummage through his warehouse. The kind that you may not see any mention of in years. With unknown production numbers, but probably in the 100's or less.

I know of a few guys that collect them and met a few on here, but I'm wondering who else is out there.

I was recently browsing Ebay (Spain) and came across a backglass for Faeton by Juegos Populares and thought . . I would love to have that, but the chance of finding the machine is slim to none.

Just thought I'd see who else is intrigued by pulling these lost treasures from oblivion.

True, rare does not equal fun/good. I agree.

I've found that a lot of the rare machines have the best artwork.

To prove both points . . I had a Peyper Wolfman once and it was one of the nicest looking games I had seen (artwork), but it was soooo boring to play.

Pins from Spanish manufacturers have peeked my interest lately.

Quoted from Astropin:

I've played BBB and (1 of 9) King Kong's and even Atari's Hercules

I've passed on a few Hercules . . . horrible machine that takes up too much space. Great gimmick for an arcade, but really nothing more. Never played a BBB or King Kong myself.

Quoted from PinballMolly:

In the past week, I got to play a Game Plan Loch Ness Monster, a Wizard Blocks, a Kelly Packard's Golden Cue, a Krull, and a pearl-handled proto Cactus Canyon.

Molly, that is an awesome bunch of games to get the chance to play! Very very cool.

I'm not in it for rare games but I do have a few.

Well, with 70 games it's hard not to have a few There are a few in your collection I would love to have!

Quoted from Pinballmike217:

I've had a few rare ones. I had an open house for the Boston Pinball Association years ago to share these machines. Had them, enjoyed them, shared them, and when I stopped playing them I let them go to new homes. It's stupid to keep things just to say "look what I have". I'd rather enjoy a new title than watch something I don't play collect dust.

Wow, simply wow! What a line-up!

I see you have a Bell Games pin. How is it? The one I've been looking for is a Future Queen - fascinated by the artwork!

I'm not a huge fan of my Space Hawks by Bell Games and probably going to let it go soon. That's not to say their other games are bad, I just don't care for this one. I believe Future Queen is an original game, where as Space Hawks is a conversion kit.

Here is a fun one. I don't go for rare, but I scored on this one. If I can get through the list of games for other people I would like to have this one ready for Allentown.

What's the story with this backglass? And why on earth did they choose the production one over this?

Btw, I'm really enjoying looking through everybody's collection as they post in this thread. It was sort of my original intention
I know the new and most popular pins are great, I don't disagree at all. But I just wanted to see where some of these rare games found a home.
So many nice collections!
