I've done two cabinets with Robert Winter's method detailed here, with the exception that I put the decals on dry. This method has worked really well for me. The Varathane application is more time intensive than just painting and sanding the cabinet, but I prefer it. It seems very durable when finished, and it's super straight once blocked and sanded smooth: http://www.webring.org/l/rd?ring=pinball;id=120;url=http%3A%2F%2Frobertwinter%2Ecom%2Fpinball%2F
