Amazing the things people choose to believe in. Bigfoot, not going to the moon, Oak Island, Loch Ness, chemtrails...
Quoted from JohnnyPinball007:I like that show.
I kind of mentioned Oak Island half joking. It is a cash grab for easy ratings like this whole UFO thing. Those two brothers on Oak Island are either very smart and lying through their teeth or they are as dumb as they seem and true believers; either way they are cashing in on both the show and the tourists it brings in. The Discovery Channel gladly allows a program that suspends all facts, logic and common sense for ratings. Ancient Aliens, the Bigfoot show(s) and others are ever present. People in Roswell are still cashing in on a crashed military balloon 70 years later. As low as CNN has sunken lately in both ratings and respectability, they have nothing to lose and this story is no surprise.
Quoted from RonSS:Just looking for perspective.
I'm saying that UFOs are not alien, we are not being visited by aliens now or in ancient times and we don't possess any alien artifacts or technology. Simple as that. It is all bullshit...but it gets ratings.
Quoted from Luckydogg420:Start your point off with “I think” or “in my opinion” And you might get some people to listen. But proclaiming that UFO’s are not alien is something you’ll have a tough time proving to most.
Not sure why I am here debating, but I am. There are certainly aliens of all sorts - including ones with high tech elsewhere in the universe. Probably many, many places and times. Would be ridiculous to think otherwise. Problem is that time and space are related and that makes travel like on Star Wars or Star Trek simply impossible. Also, we have no nearby stars with habitable planets to make travel between solar systems practical within the laws of physics or quantum mechanics.
Hubble, Keppler and now TESS have been searching for habitable planets for years now and have found a gaggle. Once again all are way too far to overcome the basic laws of physics or quantum mechanics. So there may be places where aliens have taken over and made indigenous aliens work in salt mines, but its happening in places with really close or binary stars or where life has evolved on two habitable planets in the same solar system. It simply can't happen here unless there are aliens secretly living on another planet with stealth spacecraft. To make you happy, I'll just say there is way, way less than 1% chance that we have ever been visited while mankind has existed on earth in the last few million years.
Everything that we call high tech in the western world can directly be traced back to its humble origins in science. Wasn't that long ago that switching algebra was invented. Soon after, the first computers were made out of tens of thousands of relays. The first transistors were the size of a deck of cards each. The progress from there to the current cell phone that I carry in my pocket is thoroughly documented and there is no quantum leap mixed in there from alien tech.
Speaking of cell phones; with billions of people all carrying high definition video cameras 24x7 in combination with all of the tens of millions of security cameras around the world, it shouldn't be long before we have definitive proof of these little green laws of physics violating aliens flying around? Seem like every time there is a meteor these days it gets caught on video.
As for Roswell, anyone who still thinks there is the slightest chance of that being an alien encounter is simply fooling themselves because they want to believe. As I mentioned, not sure why I am debating here. Creationists tour the country "debating" evolution despite that fact that no self respecting evolution scientist will bother to debate them because there is no chance of convincing the believers.

Quoted from RonSS:For the record, I no longer trust the NYTimes or any other main stream media about much at all.
I agree with you there!
Quoted from DanQverymuch:Oh, there are aliens. Has no one noticed how incomprehensibly huge the universe is? Earth can't be the only lucky rock.
They just aren't here. No one is warping space to fly FTL. Or using wormholes. Or even freezing themselves on long journeys. There is no point to exploring if you can never report back, so there is no use in sending robots either, except locally.
Any talk of other physical or "spiritual" dimensions, time travel, or travel between parallel universes is simply fantasy.
We are inculcated to believe outlandish things beginning in childhood, it's no wonder so many have little to no critical thinking skills... or if they do have some, welcome to cognitive dissonance and the anger we feel when our "accepted" nonsense beliefs are threatened!
This is about the smartest thing thus far in this thread. We are certainly not alone considering how big the universe is, but we are also CERTAINLY not being visited considering how big the universe is.
My neighbor thinks the aliens run all of our governments and have a trading post on the far side of the moon. They also have a base hidden on every continent. There is an alien air base in the western USA and it is guarded by bigfoot (bigfeet?). That's why the government kills stories about bigfoot before they hit the mass media...to keep these bases secret. He also says we have been trading gold and other items to the aliens in exchange for technology like computers and fiber optics. I asked him why is it that the development of modern computers can be traced at every single step from when a single transistor was the size of a pack of cigarettes to today's modern cell phone and there isn't the slightest leap let alone a quantum leap in technology in the history of mankind? Oh well, I could go on, but it just shows people believe what they want to believe whether it is based in fact, fiction, hallucinations or delusions.
Quoted from benheck:They wouldn't bother talking to us like we wouldn't bother talking to an ant hill.
But they still manage to crash and die at Roswell.
Quoted from JMcDonald:It's becoming all too clear, right now in my lifetime, that the odds are quickly tilting toward "we're not alone" and the government is now strongly hinting at that conclusion.
Hopefully you live many more decades and will not be disappointed when this doesn't happen. We might prove life elsewhere in our lifetimes, because it certainly exists possibly in our own solar system. On the other hand we are not being visited.
Quoted from embryonjohn:Its disheartening to always hear paranormal events bandied about in conversations regarding the existence of UFOs.
One has nothing to do with the other and one certainly doesn’t bolster the argument for the other.
According to my neighbor that is not true. Everything in life comes back to aliens including Jesus, contrails and Bigfoot. Ghosts are simply advanced holograms which are controlled by the aliens. To enhance the illusion, they can also project sounds and move objects with anti-gravity devices and all from the safety of their stealth spaceship up above. The illusions are personalized based on data from mind reading and anal probes during abductions.
