Sort of true. Yes - there are a few distribs left selling just below MSRP on Premiums but they are sold out on most of the popular titles for 6 months or longer.
There’s a run next week of JP Premiums. Call around and see how many distribs will sell you one below MSRP. If you can actually find one that isn’t already sold, it won’t be below MSRP….it will probably be $300 to $500 above MSRP. It’s more about limited supply and heavy demand right now. Sucks - but it is what it is.

It wouldn’t sell out - that would be a complete disaster for them as it would anger the LE buyers. They have no reason to change their existing formula. They basically have 2 options to manage demand - raise the prices of LEs and/or make more of them. They utilized both for this game. It worked but only because it was their star designer + star artist + solid license coupled with high demand due to slow production of their 10K game backorders.
It’s a high bar to set as titles after this will follow the same price structure. Will a Rush pin be able to sell 1000 LE units @ $10.5k? If it has a similar BOM to LZ, I’m not sure it could sell 500.

Right, but thankfully Stern is not JJP.
That was also back when JJP was operating in a 2 tier model. They haven’t done that again since they switched to the 3 tier model with POTC (SE/LE/CE). Their nomenclature sucks though as the CE is the truly limited game. Since POTC, they haven’t increased the number of CEs or invented alternate CE models.
Stern’s model is to respin the premiums to generate more sales (ie Comic Spiderman, Comic Star Wars, AC/DC Luci, etc). It’s working great for them, so why do anything different?
