Quoted from Spinape:why settlers chose here is beyond me
Hmmm.. Spinape has posted a history question?
Fort Edmonton, a Hudsons Bay Company fort, was established here in 1795. Settling the area to gain better access for Indian fur traders. The North Saskatchewan River, near to the present day Walterdale Bridge, could be crossed there by walking through it, for most of the year, and in that area the river banks are not as steep as the rest of the river valley.
P.S. Got to work today it was -37 C.
Quoted from phil-lee:other style engine heater?
Most new vehicles sold in Canada have block heaters installed during assembly. But not all of them as the block heater is an option. I didn't plug it in on Saturday. There are also heated battery blankets, electric interior heaters that one can get from most parts stores.
Quoted from pb456:No use in using windshield washer fluid at that temp - it would come out as vapor if it made it out at all.
-40 washer fluid is not for de-icing a windshield.
Remember that most washer fluid bottles are the engine bay, which is going to warm up the fluid. When the cars windshield is warmed by the defrost system, the windshield will not be -40 degrees. Using the -40 or -15 degree washer fluid on a cold frozen windshield will only create more ice.
