Are all you northern boys doing OK with your heating bills and other wintertime challenges ? Or are you going to start selling some pins to pay the bills

Your good friend south of the border

    Ha!
Heating is cheaper than cooling. It’s easier on the wallet than you south and east where gets humid and hot as balls. The cold has finally broke and it’s very decent out lately, fuckin finally !!

Can you get the address of where it was as I have not been able to find it.

MrBally The name at the time I believe was Fargo Wire, it is now called Sheyenne Dakota, Inc. address is 200 7th Ave NW, West Fargo, ND 58078. Glad I could help fill in a missing piece in your pinball history.

Doesn't that depend on how you are doing it? I've heard heating oil is expensive as hell.

Yes, I have natural gas. heating oil is not cheap. A home a couple homes back of mine had oil, its good heat, just costly, yes.
Can't beat a good wood furnace, free heat if you're a go-getter!! HA!

My parents have a wood furnace and it heats the whole main floor. They have baseboard heaters upstairs. Wood furnace heat has a feeling to it that you just can’t get with any other type. Every year I still go out to help my dad cut firewood for the winter.

When we build our next home I'm doing a boiler and in floor heating, with heat loss/recovery fans above doors. Super efficient.

On a side note. How'd everyone do on their heating bills during that crazy long cold stretch? Our gas bill for February was $101 and March was $90. Rest of winter was around $70.
    1970s 1000 sq2 bungalow.

    #161 5 years ago

$325 for March. That's heat and electric combined. Based on house size, our numbers are pretty close.

    #162 5 years ago

Ours was $640 for gas and electricity for february, january was $320. Have to love all the admin fees they charge.

    #163 5 years ago

~240$ american for gas in the cold months. Inefficient house built in 1916

    #164 5 years ago

My house is brand new, 9 months old. So it "should" have all the best money saving materials used. I was a little surprised at my bill, thought it would be less.

Does Stern built houses in Canada?

No, thank god. What I meant was, the government yearly puts in new updates to building code to save energy. They even updated my house half way through the build which really pissed me off because it made my staircase tighter.

I've heard of folks getting some pretty crazy power bills because their "smart" thermostat was using aux heat way too much.

    #168 5 years ago

1500 sq ft bungalow with full basement, my gas bill was $151 for Feb.

    #169 5 years ago

Just got my Nest report. How cold was February?!?? LOL

My two boys had a baseball game last night here. Both on 15U team here, and down 6-0 after 1 but rallied and won 9-8, so cool, BUT not why i'm posting.

It frickin' snowed last night and woke up to another fuckin' winter wonderland. Covered in white. So...........sad...

    #172 4 years ago

Same here. Snowed like crazy yesterday but melted by supper time. Sunny this morning till around 9am and has been snowing sideways since

We had snow recently too. On Sunday morning the ground was completely covered, but it melted by late afternoon. And then yesterday as I was walking home on my lunchbreak, it was snowing. Bah! Silly prairie weather....

My dog refused to go outside the other day, as I was trying to force her to come out my cat bolted out the door, turned around as fast as he could and ran back inside.

    That’s cold.

I should try the boiling water and throw it and video it tonight, its quite the thing to see.

If you piss on the ground does it turn to ice and shatter?

LOL, nope, just a yellow pile if ice, licking is purely optional.

Sadly we're supposed to start getting some our way as early as tonight, and then into the next two days as well. I jinxed us all by setting up my kids trampoline and pulling out the barbecue this past weekend.

I am still buried in snow too. Was 8 degrees F this morn too.

Every winter i ask my wife why the fuk are we living in Saskatchewan? The house is just about finished and we were planning on selling and moving but with the Carona going on I don't see it this year.

    #186 4 years ago

I hear you Dirk, if it's not the snow and cold, it's 60+ mph wind ,can't wait for our 2 days of nice weather then back to the freezer.

Holy moly man, you really do only get about two days a year of decent weather. You folks up North are hardcore. I get all bummed out when it gets below 50 degrees anymore, but I am getting older. After seeing your pics I realize that I have got nothing to bitch about. Take care this winter and I hope you all get through it safely.
