Unrolling an extension cord to get the battery charger hooked up. Heard a weird sound looked down and the cord had cracked in a dozen places like an egg shell. Hmmm. The neighbors Suburbans back door wouldn't close. He slammed it down. It still didn't lock but all the letters of Suburban except the S were scattered down in
the snow.

Speaking of extension cords.... I’ve seen 3 in the last 2 days on the road. I’m thinking people are forgetting to unplug them & then go.

I dragged a 30ft'er 44 km's down the highway from my office to another office in another town dragging from the front of my work truck along the side. I got out of the truck, my head hung....... it was worked down to the braided copper in like 15 spots!! LMAO

We only run high quality black rubber extension cords so they last!
The other day some idiot left an extension cord in the middle of the alley, AND my extension cord was stolen from my driveway!
Luckily I didn’t break it lol. Normally I wrap it on my drivers side mirror so I see it when I leave.. whoops
Last year I did good deed and snowblowed my neighbors driveway. His porch light shut off while I was doing it. Apparently I ate his extension cord and blew his breaker.. another big whoops

I've snowblowed blue tarps, extension cords (a few), a hammer, my BBQ cover, some (lots) of rope. I had to have an extra box of shear pins, lol.
Quoted from northerndude:a hammer
I have never hit a hammer, but yea I have done the rest.
Quoted from CNKay:Ever suck in a phone book, I was so pissed.
Ugh I bet that did a number on the blower..
Sorry
I remember my first snow blower. Big one. Went through a wooden gate, pulling doesn't stop it, forgot to use the controls. Came out like a ground up tree. Oh well keep going, I'll get the hang of this by the time I get to the rear gate. Nope. Ground that one up too. Fun times.
And got to make two new wood gates in the spring.
LTG : )
Disclaimer : The telephone pole did stop it. That is when I learned about shear pins.
Every year you go “i should move these bricks before it snows” or “I’ll have the kids pick these toys up soon”
And I forget, and run it all over with the blower. Plastic shards evenly dispursed around the yard.

I have probably snow blowed 30 pucks. They go like 50-85ft. Unreal.
My kids don’t pick them up after practice shooting
i ordered this thing a couple weeks ago because the wife wanted to do some straightening up in the garage over the winter. Attached garage, insulated (aside from the door). 40,000 btu's. Tried it out the other night on the first real cold night, -6 outside, 26 degrees in the garage when I fired it up. 90 minutes later it was 59. Super happy. Be nice to throw on the back porch in the fall or even take to a tailgate party.

Any fumes?
Is it safe for indoors?
I have a kerosun heater and I hate the fumes

Yeah, the kerosene are eye burners!
As I mentioned earlier, I spent this past week in Iowa. We buried my mom-in-law on the coldest day in over a decade (Wednesday). The thermometer on the rental car said -25F as I made a spontaneous run to walmart for some additional cold weather gear, when I woke up. It said -15F as we drove to the burial. Windchill was reported as -30F to -50F.
Out to the cemetery everybody!
I have instituted a new rule for visits back home. I will only travel to Iowa between the time that corn gets planted and Halloween.
It's 60F right now in Charlotte.

I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss.
Well I’m about to go snowblow and attempt to get out of my alley. All my clothes were in the dryer and the wind was just at the right angle to go into my dryer vent outside. So I’m chilled to the bone from the get go.

Why does that look like a bomb to me?
Quoted from russdx:even we had some snow in the uk this week!
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Aww. That’s just a NH dusting. Wouldn’t even drive less than 70 mph in that.

If you mean "in the house", no. They tell you not to use it in any enclosed place (which would include a garage) and recommend a carbon monoxide detector wherever you use it. We'll probably keep it on til it's comfortable then just shut it off, as even the "low" setting throws a ton of heat. It took over 3 hours for the temp to drop 10 degrees. There were some fumes but not like a kerosene heater.
Quoted from DaMoib:In the immortal words of John McClane - "Welcome to the party, pal!"
I used to live in NJ when much younger so do have memory's of what real snow is and real hot summers hehe. Sadly just memory's now
Quoted from ImNotNorm:It's so cold that I haven't walked my dogs in three days
Looks like we won't be going for a walk in the next few days either. [quoted image]
Welcome to Edmonton. why settlers chose here is beyond me

That thing is fantastic! We had the Cigar Club outside and it was about 40 degrees. 10 people sitting around it had to move back it was so warm! It's just the right height when sitting on a chair. Much better than those tall overhead ones IMO....
Quoted from Spinape:why settlers chose here is beyond me
Hmmm.. Spinape has posted a history question?
Fort Edmonton, a Hudsons Bay Company fort, was established here in 1795. Settling the area to gain better access for Indian fur traders. The North Saskatchewan River, near to the present day Walterdale Bridge, could be crossed there by walking through it, for most of the year, and in that area the river banks are not as steep as the rest of the river valley.
P.S. Got to work today it was -37 C.
According to the radio station -41 this AM here in Saskatoon. -51c (-60f) with the windchill. School bus wasn't running so the kids got driven to school as it isn't cold enough to close the school.. and like TheHueManatee posted.. not changing much this week here either.. gross.. felt like sitting on a block of concrete when I started the car up.
This article made me think of you northerndude lol

What is the extra temp gauge I'm seeing? The one on the left is a coolant temp gauge; I recognize the symbol. The one on the right I don't recognize. I'm guessing it is a northern thing. Is it an oil temp gauge ?

It has a little gear.... wouldn't that be transmission temp?
Just rediculous outside today. I take full responsibility for it. A few weeks ago I told someone that we have been having a warmer year than usual...
New record low here last night -38.4 C (-37.5 F) with wind chills of -50 C (-58 F). Canada is great grrrr
