It was time I got this thing going. A long time aga I found this programmer at a second hand shopt for 1 euro. now I have a laptop with a parallel port. Just not sure how to get it going exactly. Probably have to run a virtual machine to operate, if even possible to use the port then. And need to get the drivers from anything else than the floppies. Anybody have tips on this? Maybe somebody has used this thing before or maybe a comparable one? Let me know The manual was included so I'll start there.

An old thread, but maybe this guy can send the software. http://stardot.org.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7406

Found the software online called promProg. I also installed windows 98 in a virtual machine. And after a few hours I got the os and software running. Now I have to find out how to use it exactly. Making progress

I spend hours and hours getting the port on my dockingstation in the virtual machine running windows 98 but without succes. The software is installed and working but while the programmer is connected the software can't find the programmer. I think I tried all settings in host and guest OS.

Maybe I'll just look out for a laptop running windows 98 with a parallel port.

Yes, old programmer's have to have direct access to the parallel port to work. I don't think running a virtual version of Win98 is going to work.

This is why so many of the older programmers are so cheap now. The only ones worth the effort are when you need to burn old Bipolar Proms. If Eprom is all you need, there are plenty at $49 or less burners from China that will work with 32 bit Win7. Some, even Win10.

Alright. Now I want this thing working. Asked at recycling stores whether the have some old pc's, like really really old. Found a base which I paid 2.50 euros for. Then needed some RAM and a HDD and some other accesoires. Got those in anohter second hand shop for 5 euro.
Installing windows 98 now, pain in the ass. But I WILL have my eprom burner setup for under 10 euro and be able to game like the 90's on that thing. Will be great next to my pins and arcade.

    How valuable is your time?

    Quoted from snakesnsparklers:

    How valuable is your time?

At the moment my time isn't worth that much Also, I like the process even if it's a bit painfull at times And I'd like to play games from my childhood on the pc when I'm done, it's a nice bonus. I put my mind to it a few days ago, and I'm not backing down.
At the moment I ran out of CD's and they are not rewriteable

There's some great games for Windows 98. Maybe that's a bonus.
