Oh boy. Letters will be flying.

#243 10 years ago
Quoted from JerseyJack:

Steve - welcome back - We are working to 50 games a WEEK - not 50 a day - I wish.
apparently I'm not entitled to pass along what I have been told even by you via e mail.
Would you like me to post the e mail you sent me from 1/1/11 where you told me about your experience with Gary Stern or the one on 6/11/12 where you beg me to contact Stern to hel you get a new AC/DC playfield (I did not sell you the game) and I did help as Curly installed it for you......
Please allow me to post both here for the Group to see what you wrote me.

Wow. That's petty. You trash "Wrongside", then roll up your sleeves and jump right into the fray. And yes, you are expected to be above threatening to air customer names and correspondence on public forums.

Should we really start talking about who said what in January of 2011, or even June of 2012? Things clearly change, right? Or should we go find some video of the dates you were talking about in, say, March of 2012 about WOZ production and games in July 2012?

.............or all of 2011, when you were making big plans for the March 2012 production start?

Those rocks are going to do a number on that Invisiglass House.

The train didn't jump the tracks, you missed it.

Well, we can trust you to be objective.

Quoted from JerseyJack:

Seems like a pretty libelous statement there

JMO = just my opinion. He is entitled to his opinion based on past actions, and is entitled to share an opinion without the vague threat of malicious prosecution. The delays he is clearly referencing did, in fact, occur despite your repeated assurances at production schedules and target dates that were not met. You don't like the language used, surely, but he has a right to his opinion and a well documented timeline to base it upon.

#372 10 years ago
Quoted from JerseyJack:

Reads like a statement of fact, not opinion

Then you stopped reading before the JMO. Conveniently. This is petty. Again.

Quoted from SilverBallz:

Has anyone heard of games selling for this much?

Of course not.

Quoted from spfxted:

MUST this shit continue???????

Will you please stop cluttering the adults' conversation with your nonsense pictures? Can I find you a copy of Highlights magazine or something to read?

#401 10 years ago
Quoted from Expletive:

Are you going to have your lawyers send him a letter demanding that he stop like you have with others?

To be fair and accurate (read:not libelous), the letter(s) referred were not Cease & Desist letters, but rather notice letter(s) of potential claims for harm to business reputation. Ps and Qs folks.

#403 10 years ago
Quoted from spfxted:

Why don't you mind your own business and put me on Ignore...jerk!

Why don't you use your words? Human communication technique. How did you convey thoughts and ideas before the internet?

#407 10 years ago
Quoted from spfxted:

Why don't you go to that other forum and stop being a negative tool.

What other forum? Maybe you can post a pic of a map to it for me, complete with a .gif of a steaming pile of shit and something or someone yawning? And can you spatter in a price pump for Scared Stiff while you are at it? That would complete the circle for me.

Not being up on my racial slurs, I had to look this one up... and holy crap.

"Guinea (U.S.): someone of Italian descent. (Derives from "Guinea Negro," was called because of some Italians who had dark complexions)"

You weren't a Sopranos fan, I guess.

Quoted from dgarrett:

Gambit - opinion, with falsehoods that hurt business and cost you something, isn't opinion anymore, its libel. The legal proof may fall short of conviction, but libelous nonetheless. So I don't think Markmon is entitled to share an opinion with immunity - and I've called him out as a liar on this thread, and the last shitnado thread full of lies - I was very specific with facts.

My post didn't have anything to do with Markmon. Jack's accusation of libel was toward this post, on page 7:

Quoted from pinballkim:

Not really, they both either lied or unknowingly spread false information, and according to you one is a comic and one is a criminal. Other than that, Jack should have factual inside information and the other guy is just some dude on the internet.

Also, that is a most liberal interpretation of libel law. Opinion is not libel. Known falsehoods may be. Being proven wrong doesn't make something libelous in retrospect. Something is libelous at the time of the utterance, or it isn't. The intent and knowledge of the speaker are the key component, and quite frankly, the hardest part. The standard is very tough to meet because of the pure subjectivity involved.

Quoted from Sunfox:

Actually, no I wasn't. In Canada we didn't get much HBO stuff back then, but they did air a few episodes on network TV late at night (unedited, yeah regulations are looser) to promote the very expensive premium movie channel you had to pay for to get it.

They used that term quite a bit on the show.

I love Canadian TV. Flip around basic cable and there are boobs and whatnot everywhere.

AND THE FREAKING INTERNET!

There can certainly be libel on the internet. But I haven't seen any today.

#441 10 years ago
Quoted from blondetall:

I thought having Jersey Jack himself here to give direct info would be helpful, but I think it just made up go from a F4 to a F5.

Without precise wind-speed measuring data, you had better be prepared for a libelnado.

Quoted from SunKing:

EDITED to reflect the 16 new posts Ted made in the past 30 minutes...

*giggle*

#477 10 years ago

Per Jack:

"Price change to $8000 is on 9/1/13

I would bet it goes to $8500 sometime after that."

Bravo to he who put "Papua New Guinea" in the tags.

#507 10 years ago

Why is Danzig thumbing down everything? That's not very metal.

#511 10 years ago

Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?

#619 10 years ago
Quoted from sandhope:

In regards to giving Jack the benefit of the doubt, I just fall back on the fact that this is the same Jack who sent an e-mail to people who preordered and prePAYED for LOTRLEs that he was increasing the price, and that if anyone talked about it their order would be cancelled.
Thankfully, people talked. Lots of people. And in the end, the price didn't go up (and it is probable* that increasing the price this way would have been illegal), most people got stuck with Canadian coin doors, almost nobody got the 'special gift from Jack' that was promised to come with the pin, and some of us actually remember all this and just plain don't trust the guy.
*on the surface, it was, but the devil is in the details, and I dropped out of law well short of the bar. Ironically, to become a bartender, and the bar owner wants a WOZ, which I think would rake in the money here.

Oh boy, an oldie but a goodie.

Libelanche Warning.

#655 10 years ago
Quoted from Shoot_Again:

All this lawyer talk looking for someone libel will make me want to leave this site forever.
Enough already. Keep it at the office I do not bring my job here to talk about please leave yours at home as well. This is a forum for pinball not to get clients for lawsuits. If anyone ever wins a lawsuit against someone for posting a comment on a message board I am done with the internet.
Seriously WTF you are all sue happy.
Get back to playing and talking pinball not LAW
Thanks SA

Did you miss the part where Jack was the first to say something was "libelous", and then the explanations, and then the tongue in cheek?
