I don't really sell anything on the market, but if it prevents anything from being listed and available it's a bad thing I think. It's one thing to pay a fee for a whole machine, but a lot of the small parts, mods, etc will never be worth it. Also there is a lot of fan stuff on this site that I don't people are making much of a profit on, so they probably just won't list them.

I decided to donate when I was able to successfully find multiple odd parts I would never find elsewhere. Not via the market, but by talking to people on the forums. I think if you get a regular benefit from the site for any reason you should donate or support the site in whatever way you can.

    Quoted from Jean-Luc-Picard:

Pinside is not expensive to run. The domain and hosting is no more than a few bucks a month.

I disagree, it is expensive to run a good site. It's not the hosting, or the domain that are the cost of a good website. This site is a great resource and quite modern with it's multitude of customized features. It stays that way from continued development. Development that even as a hobby can take a lot of time and effort. If Robin and the rest of the staff spend so much time on the site that it's become a full time job that is a good thing. That means this site will continue to grow and add features that benefit us all.

I don't think charging in the market for every ad is the right way to monetize personally, but that's not my decision. I'm sure things will be in flux for some time as they figure out how to make everything work financially. The more resources the site has to dedicate to development and server resources benefits us all.
