    Quoted from vanilla:

There's a brand new thread in RGP titled, Welcome Back to RGP Pinside Cheapskates!

Nothing like folks flocking to NNTP/Usenet to avoid a tax. How American?

Perhaps we'll start a new IRC channel to haunt instead?

Either way, neither of those protocols have had any feature updates in decades.

    Quoted from Cybergoonie:

Pretty much the state of America these days don't you think? Almost every person I've dealt with as a business owner thinks they're entitled to getting something for nothing. Clearly being able to sell on Pinside should be looked as a privilege and not an entitlement. Was wondering why I wasn't seeing a lot of For Sale ads in the Forums. Guess now I know why.

One of the first lessons in business that I learned going out on my own was: *A client will never realize the true value of a service offered for free.*

The word FREE is a marketing tactic, used as a hook to bring customers into the market.

On the opposite side of the coin, many start-up businesses/services fail to create enough value in their service/product to command the price they are charging.

Successful business bridges the gap with their customer base with clear communication. Some could argue that some of the resistance to these changes is exactly a result of poorly executed communication. Setting expectations is one of the hardest jobs of any business owner.
