some new dad kicks and a personalized aluminum quarter holder in my favorite color. score!

New dad kicks are the best. My brother got my dad some new vans for Xmas and we were joking he’s going to probably shovel snow in them this week hahaha

Quoted from RedDragons5:

Thanks, brother! Been collecting for over 30 years. I don't keep a lot of dead stock.....I had a house fire about 15 years ago that cost me about 75 pairs. After that, and rebuilding the collection, I like to wear most of what I buy as you never know what can happen. Want to enjoy my kicks! Of course, I still do have some dead stock but it's usually multiple pairs of my favorites. I say my collection is 99.5% Jordans. I just turned 50 in October, so I was around when Jordan Brand first started. I remember running home from 5th grade to watch UNC with this kid named "Mike Jordan" play in the NCAA tournament. When he got drafted by the Bulls and the "banned 1's" came out I begged my mom for $60 to get them. Man, I cut grass for months to repay her!

I work in the adjuster part of the insurance industry. Sorry if you to deal with a crappy adjuster. Those collections are brutal to justify the dollar amounts to the ‘higher ups’ as they just don’t get it. I love wearing my shoes but at the same time I look at them and just say not today and throw my hey dude shoes on lol

Solid xmas presents. With the weather hitting 50/60 degrees this weekend might be able to bust those puppies out for a few minutes before spring!

Poster of the Jordan styles is legit!

Hahah same. Except crocs are my go to. I was going to do a 31 days of Un-DSing shoes in December but I didn’t get the chance. I’ll probably do February or something. I’ve been having to sell off some pairs.

Been thinking about pulling the trigger on a pair of Lost and Founds but not 100 on that yet. Prices are starting to climb big time on them.

Yeah, when I documented and presented the dollar amount to the insurance company....let's just say I got HOSED!. I'm pretty sure the "depreciated" value of the check was around $2000. A memory I've put out of my mind, so the details are a little blurry, lol!

I guess I’ll use this as a selling moment for my services, if this happens to anyone, call me and I’ll help as best as I can. It really does suck what insurance companies do especially with ‘collections’

No way I could do that! I mean once you pull the trigger and get through like 3-4 pairs, okay, I can already go through 14 in my mind but then I’d run out of ones I didn’t care about after 2 weeks. Haha

Document it, that would be cool to see

My son is really into sneakers. He was so excited when his Orange Lobsters arrived today that he got on SNKRS

He just got these a month ago and I call them his Oscar the grouch shoes.

Another pic of his collection.

Is this an art thing? Do you buy shoes that aren’t your size? As an investment?

There could be 0.0 demand and I will take the L. Nike hates me and saves me money at the same time.

Some people buy shoes that aren’t their size especially if it’s a ‘good deal’ to collect them and resell them or trade later. I personally only buy shoes that fit me. It’s similar to the pinball scene the last few years with pricing going up/down and shoes being worth more Deadstock (new in box and never worn) and some shoes still having value even used.

They gonna brick. You should have no troubles.

#67 1 year ago

Nah they will be hype because of the lost and found success.

#68 1 year ago

Def will sell out of majority of sizes immediately

#69 1 year ago

Idk guys, 2s not really that desirable. Guess we will see. Maybe buncha bots try and flip them for 20$ profit lol

Exactly, and after all the fees and shipping they will lose money but it’s just a part of the experience now with releases.

#71 1 year ago

I’ve never owned 2’s ever. If I can’t snag this drop I’ll try for the green in Feb.

Still on the fence about pulling the trigger. Looks like StockX has them going for $30-$50 over MSRP. So after fees and other crap they are like $300 aftermarket.

Not worth the aftermarket price. I think it will still be hard to get them but I have a feeling more people will get them than the usual bot sell out.

We will see in 8 minutes!

#73 1 year ago

Still a good amount of sizes still available. 1/2 sold out right away

I took the SNKRS L again!

But was able to snag a pair from
finishline!

Nike SNKRS app hates me.

#76 1 year ago

Collect those Ls. Sometimes you will get EA for some good drops

#77 1 year ago

I only started “collecting” a little over a year ago. It helps that my 16yo son wears the same size as me, and understands how to take care of things. The wife got tired of our closet being loaded with shoe boxes, so she bought me these stackable clear cases from Costco.

I’ve taken some hard L’s on SNKRS too, but for some reason that app has hooked me up with two Travis Scott releases this past year, the “reverse mochas” and the “dark phantoms”.

All of you size 13 wearing folks, you are my competition!! Hahaha

Size 13 here…. Maybe we can compare collections once I finally get a photo of all my shoes. Hahaha

It’s funny how the SNKRS app works. I’ve got my wife her own account so we can try to get lucky twice but this year has been brutal for us.

New shoes for when scooby doo arrives?
[quoted image]

Those are pretty cool!
Many years ago after they started doing the themed chuck taylors I went to purchase a pair at a local store. Having never owned a pair I wanted to make sure I got the correct size. I think they were Pink Floyd and / or Grateful Dead models.
I was shocked at how uncomfortable they were. I can wear shoes by almost any Mfg and have no issues. I ended up not buying them and left the store unhappy and empty handed. Is this common for that brand/model?

#81 1 year ago

chuck taylors are mostly only comfortable to wear once they are too beat up to wear

#82 1 year ago

I hate Chuck Taylor’s

The only pair I ever liked was some weird Jordan wannabe shoe they did and it was a puffy chuck T

#83 1 year ago

Looks like finish line / jd sports is having a pretty nice sale on shoes. They’ve got quite a few styles at 50% off or more.

I'm curious.. do you all just collect and look at em, or wear em, or...? I've had cool kicks over the years, but I wore em out on playgrounds, basketball courts, and disc golf courses.. I guess its like collecting anything else. I dont get it, but this thread is interesting.

I have shoes for all kinds of occasions, shoes I wear and shoes I don’t wear. Everyone is different. I think it’s a level of comfort thing.

I don’t wear nice shoes when the weather is bad. Or I wear a pair that are replaceable. I have my everyday shoes and then my occasion shoes. Breast Cancer awareness month, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. only get worn once a year. Same with even golf shoes I have. I have a few pairs of Ecco’s that I wear regardless of weather. And then I have Jordans, Picnic shoes, ‘no denim allowed’ shoes I only wear with the right outfit or to show off.

I wear them, play basketball in them, look super fresh in them etc. I don’t keep them in boxes.

#87 1 year ago

I collected to collect for years but wore a solid amount too. Got tired of just having them and started wearing more and more. The hardest part about having a ton of shoes is you only wear like 3 pairs over and over. I’m at the point now where my beater shoes are like $1500 on the market but I made the decision to take them out the box and wear them. Now they are my favorite to put on feet.

This explains why I didn't get it.. I've never been or looked "super fresh". Lol. Glad to hear people are wearing them. I had the original Jordan's growing up but they weren't widely accepted early on. You could puck them up in clearance. I did love my original air flight and air flight 2 (if I'm remembering the names right). Come to think of it, my air flight were $125 back in 89 or 90, which my dad still bought despite the insane cost. The deal was I wear them during hoops season only during practice and games (indoor) then after the season they got wore out at the local parks playing with the boys. Simpler times. I remember throwing them in my gym bag or hanging them over my shoulder going to and from practice or games.

And that’s where I think collecting for people kicks in, imagine if you found a few similar pairs. You might have one pair to wear and a second pair to just have and remember.

Everyone’s different. I always screw up my flights and the Different Jordan’s, I love them. I actually played basketball one year because I wanted the shoes to wear when the season was over. Haha. I turned out to be really bad at scoring points but I was a defensive machine that fouled out of every game. Lol

Finally got out 95% of my collection for a little photo shoot. Still missing some goodies but here’s the bulk of what I have that are deadstock or barely worn.

I def have a collection that most reflects weird stuff I like and not necessarily typical collector shoes. Or investment shoes. Almost each one means something to me.

I wear most my shoes but there’s a few I haven’t got around to wearing yet. It’s tough to un ds them if they double in value lol.

I have a couple of pairs, like my ugly sweater xmas shoes, I only wear a few times a year and I’m inside a house and preferably sitting down. Lol kind of the best of both worlds!

I don’t collect, but I think it’s a cool hobby. Picked these up today. Just liked the look and I don’t have any shoes with green on them.
