When you buy a pin, you are accepting THAT pin - and really can't call foul if they make another style or improvements years down the road.
Depends on the price. Current MMR owners subsidized the technology (color chip, machine platform/chipset) that benefited lower prices for subsequent AFMR and MBR owners. This would be some payback, offering upgrade kits to current MMR owners at a reasonable price for subsequent aftermarket technology like the XL display.
