Things had been fine, then during s game smoke cane up from under the pf. I took some photos. I think the immediate
Is the pop bumper coil
Bc it’s locked up.. before I just replace what else usually needs replacing as well?
I also noticed this small light board looks cooked. The lights work so I would just replace the resistor ?
Thanks

Check the switch and see if its stuck, transistor could be toast and possibly a. LS chip. What pin is this?

#3 4 years ago

Could this have been the issue ? The metal yoke was split

The switch was fine. But the plunger was stuck in the coil

Probably not, but needs replacing.

What should I look for that would cause the coil to burn up?

#8 4 years ago

And is there a name for the light board?
I am sure that should be replace as well

Disclaimer: I have no experience with System 3-9.

However ... special solenoids are essentially the same in those systems. Try reading the article @ http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Williams_System_9_-_11#Special_solenoid_problems for more information.

Thanks. I will read through

Just trying to figure if that coil
Could have burnt bc its 30 year old, or if one of the resistors on the switch are suspect as well..

Finally got a chance to work on this
So I checked the tips and the ones associated with the pop had the same readings as the neighbors
I replaced all the components associated with the pop switch.
When I tested them the only one that was bad was the diode on the coil itself..
Could that have caused it to lock. Want to be sure before power up

Make sure red power wire goes to lug with diodes cathode banded side, then power up, if coil locks on turn off quickly,
no? next start a game in game mode checking the coil doesn't lock on no?
test pop bumper for normal operation.

Thanks for reply. I rechecked the wires and powered it on. Everyone thing worked. It had to be the bad coil diode,
But now the pop switch has all new components. Should be set for a while
