    Quoted from ss-pinball:

Now we have streaming video and very sophisticated video games, online gaming...all of those other things are far less likely to break down than a pinball machine that has multiple playfields or one that requires regular (or constant) maintenance.

It’s quite telling that the entire Pinball category on Twitch peaks at around 100-200 concurrent viewers on any given day with only about 6-10 people streaming.

A single video or computer game might have 20,000 viewers and the entire category of video games will have 100s of thousands of concurrent viewers. Hell, tens of thousands of people literally watch other people play slot machines!

So…. Where is this big untapped pinball market for different styles of machines? I think it’s in the same place where Mr. Roger’s puppets live.

Pinside literally represents almost the entire global pinball market and despite recent growth it is microscopically small compared to other hobbies and interests people have. Also the bulk of current pinball hobbyists have repeatedly rejected attempts at selling smaller or “home” style machines. People want the real deal.

But still if you someone wants to try and offer such a game nobody is going to stop you! You might not sell any but it could be a fun creative journey. Just don’t kid yourself into thinking anyone wants it.

    Yep!

Star Explorer is pretty cool for what it is. Had it as a kid in the 80s. You can find em all over still for $50-$100 still working.

There's also a version themed to a demolition derby and I think one other.

They were popular during the heyday of 80's pinball. Though it seems most kids and families soon moved on to video games because they stopped making them.
