I owned both for years and would pass on both, but if you are determined to get one or the other, I'd go with SM due to the superior layout. The SM shots are smooth and satisfying and its more fun to shoot. POTC has the best toy (sinking ship) that Stern has put together in the modern era, but nearly every shot interrupts the flow in some fashion.
