Picked up a project SF a few days ago.

Got several problems solved, broken wires, burnt fuses, etc. Looking at a few problems, any direction would be appreciated.

1) is there a trick to pulling apart the control panel push buttons? Change up button bulb is burnt. Cannot get the switch apart to replace bulb?

2) none of the three home run OPTO's are working. Going to check the connect /resolder at the cpu board. Next step will be to replace the Opto board. Any other idea's

3) not sure if the magnet is working. Best methods to troubleshoot? I have a spare magnet core from another project.

Quoted from Slim64:

On mine the buttons either twist to remove or just slightly angle to the side and pull.
I'd check the small opto board. You're sure it's connected properly?
You can go into diag test and it should pulse the magnet. Run a ball slowly over it and see if it changes the expected trajectory.
Im dealing with an issue where fast balls are more like curve balls lol. Pretty sure I need to pull the pitching mech apart and clean it

Thanks.

Found that if I tilt the switch toward the cabinet it will come loose. That question solved.

Ordered a new opto board and some opto’s. Will see if that fixes the problem but will double check the wiring.

Yea, tested the magnet as you mentioned. Good news as it is working.

Found a broken trace in the cpu that is preventing a row of switches in the switch matrix to work. Need to get that repaired.

Can some one whose curve ball/ screw ball that is working well take a pic of the pitch cam when it is in between pitches?

My magnet is not affecting the pitches and it seems to be energizing late. Wondering if my cam is mis adjusted

So found in the history of this thread another pinsider with the same problem. He adjusted the cam and all good. I flipped the cam 180 degrees and now getting curve action. .

Quoted from midcoastsurf:

Flipped the cam over, or spun it 180 degrees? (cutout would now be opposite side from the opto in your picture)

Spun it 180 degrees. So that it is the opposite side as you stated.

Just got the card dispenser to work.

Any one have a card catcher so that the cards do not just directly fall to the floor?

Quoted from hawkeyexx:

Marco had them in stock last year. I made mine from clear plastic I purchased from hardware store.

I looked at Marco. No luck now. Can you post a pick of yours? I was thinking, I may need to build one.

Quoted from Jcpdriver:

Thank you all for the input and suggestions. Much appreciated!
So I went to test switch mode and tested player 1 button, willie Bonilla (far right player) and the dispenser low warning and nothing registered/closed. Player 2 registered as closed when I pushed it as well as all the other players in the back so seems it is something linked to the orange-violet wire flow.
Here is the board and battery. I know the person I purchased it from had removed the original battery and replaced it.
I’m guessing I’ll need to start chasing the wire and seeing where I lose the connection.[quoted image][quoted image]

start there.

Go to the manual and check all the switches in both the problem switch row and column in the switch matrix. If all the other switches work in the row/column, the problem is most likely at the respective switch itself. I would look for loose connection/cold solder joint at the switch. I also use jumper wires with alligator clips to troubleshoot but that may be a little advances for here.
