Are there any worthwhile ROM/software updates for slugfest? I have the original ROM. Just wondering what the difference is between the original and some the ones I see on ebay.

Quoted from hawkeyexx:If you have a manual it will tell you how to put it in switch test mode and check the optos.
Did switch test and optos are all functioning. Anyone have an issue with the pitch motor not working correctly? I don't want to buy the pitch motor kit for $180 if it's not the problem.
Anyone know here to find the pitcher ball flap assembly #A-14287? Mine is rusted pretty bad wand would like to replace.
Thanks
So long time lurker, first time question. Started have an intermittent issue. At times after a bit it will record and out it it will just give a single to the batter out of nowhere. I looked inside to check connectors and found this wire loose, think it may have been spliced to the red wires but not sure. Any help would appreciated.

Haven't been able to locate that for a while. Seems to be out of production. Here is a good alternative, I just received mine. The "Tapered" option is very close in dimensions to the original You'll need to paint it and attach it to the metal bracket though (which I haven't done yet as I'm figuring out what type of rivet to use to attach.

To be honest though, if yours is just rusted and not bent out of shape, it may be worth it to just remove it (screws under playfield), sand and repaint it.

I know this is from a while ago...any insight on how to rivet/attach the new flap to the metal bracket? Thanks!

Does it actually pitch the ball? I forget what it gives you exactly (ball, out, etc), but if you let the game sit long enough during a game eventually it will start pitching periodically to progress the game to the end. That may be a setting too...not sure if this is what you are describing...

It pitches, this seems to happen right before a pitch or right after.
Hiya Slugfesters, bought mine about 8 months ago. Noticed it wasn't counting strikes. So I'm always hesitant to start diagnosing. Last time, I shorted my Getaway and blew the power board (good thing I know an electrical engineer!). Finally decided to go for it today, and after confirming the trough switch was working I noticed the balls were rolling back toward the pitching unit. I bent the metal running to the trough switch and Voila! She's playing like a champ! I missed my Slugfest, the color DMD for this game is a must, though I have heard it is larger than the DMD and it is difficult to install.
Hi Guys,
I would love to be part of your club!
If anyone is near(ish) to Minneapolis/St. Paul and willing to sell, please PM me.
Not open to shipping at the moment, but could be soon if I don't find one local.
Thanks everyone!

Looks like it was painted as there may have not been replacement decals at that time. You can purchase them from Phoenix Arcade here:

They didn't all come with front graphics for some reason. Mine didn't either.
Looking for a slugfest in nice condition in the Texas area. Willing buy out of state and ship with Beltmann for the right machine.
Quoted from bossk4hire:Best way to patch these up? Wood putty or something else?

Howdy from North Texas. I picked up a Slugfest yesterday in Austin, and have been working on it all day. Converted it to LED.
Had to make new molex connecters for the control panel. This seems to be a common issue from reading this thread.
I've fixed everything except one biggie - Switch row 7 is open. I have no "Screwball", "Steal Base", "Outfield 3R", or ramp opto. This is everything on switch row 7.
I checked the diode (D7) on the MPU, and its fine.
Any advice on what my next moves should be would be greatly appreciated.
PS - My 10-year old daughter asked me "Dad, is that a pinball machine?" - I replied "Sweetie, some say it is, some say it isn't, but it has balls you hit with skill to score points, and it uses mostly pinball machine parts. Its going into our home arcade in the pinball line-up, so in this house, its a pinball machine!".
Added over 3 years ago:*Switch row 5 is not, not 7. The circuit includes Diode #7 on the CPU, my brain conflated the two.
Take a look at all the switches in row 7, most likely one of them is touching a piece of metal somewhere, shorting the whole row.
I repaired the switch row issue. I connected the column and row switches directly on the board with a jumper to simulate switches closing, and determined the issue was the board itself. I followed the circuit on the board, all the way past the LM339, and found an open trace. After soldering in a wire, everything on the row works as it should.
PS - If a switch column or row is shorted as suggested by BR80, the machine will tell you "SWITCH ROW * SHORTED" (or column). So I knew it wasn't that.
My only issue now is a very strange one. The "ball" switch in the trough, and the cabinet/PF tilt switches are on the same switch column as the pitch and ramp optos. Sometimes when the ball switch or tilt switches are closed, the switch is identified as the Ramp Opto on the switch edges test! So the effect is that a passed ball will not register as a ball/strike, and you get the 7 second delay where the machine says "Foul Ball" because it didn't sense any switches. This will go from working to not working back and forth during a game even!
Any suggestions how to repair this?
Working on a project Slugfest. The green/red wire that daisy chains off the door switch is loose. Does this plug into the interconnect board? The white/red wire above it goes to the door switch (need to solder back on).
Also, none of the three switches on my card dispenser work in switch test. The red LED on the card dispenser board is lit.
Quoted from hawkeyexx:[quoted image]
There it is! J6 on the interconnect board is where the green/red wire goes. Awesome. Thank you so much!

Your welcome.....My wife loves this game.
Anyone adjust the height of the home run ramp? I played 9 innings last night with a friend and not one ball made it into the bleachers. All fly balls either hit the plastic with the people sticker (too low) OR hit the glass. Is there a trick to dialing in this ramp?

Common problem. Assuming the assembly hasn't worked loose and everything is tightened up I found that the cam wears down over time enough to prevent the ball from obtaining the correct launch angle. It's hard to visually detect. I went ahead and replaced the cam with a new one from Marco and restored the long ball to my game. Now the problem is fans keep throwing home run balls back!

For me the issue was the bat, not the ramp. So also check and see how much wear there is underneath on the bat mechanisms.
Just go my Slugfest Today. Is there a solution to light the playfield better? It’s kind of dark. Thanks

Check out post 990. He added spotlights that mimic stadium lights at a real ball diamond. Looks fantastic.

Quoted from jjoravec:Does anyone know what size the lock is on the Slugfest Card Dispenser? Also, any ideas where to get the bent latch piece?[quoted image]
Are you missing the lock entirely or just changing it out? If you're just changing it, just reuse the latch piece.
I am missing the lock entirely

Quoted from Portyman:Brilliant idea. Are these t he ones from comet pinball? I now have my first modding project. Thanks
No. They're just a cheapy roll of ebay. You have to solder leads to the pads. That's a little tricky, but you have tons extra when you cut to length. Something like these, but I try to get them from US suppliers: https://ebay.us/VINOfC
Thanks.
Has anyone made inside art for the inside sides of the play field. Seems like a nice crowd image would be cool.
If not I might take a crack

There was some chatting about it but I have never seen any made.
Quoted from Portyman:My second question.. what are these holes for on the playfield

Mine has a small card holder. I had someone make apron card for it.
