Quoted from TicTacSeth:

New question - the 3 lights behind the home run fence aren’t lighting up. Do they have their own fuse? Figured I would start there, all other lights look fine. Not lighting up in the lamp test.

Also seeing my home run optos are out. I found the manual PDF online, and see the home run optos on the switch matrix, but I’m not seeing on the lamp matrix where the 3 bulbs behind the home run fence run to?

#952 3 years ago

The 3 bulbs behind the mesh fence are GI Illumination Outfield. Test 6 General Illumination and cycle through until you get to the outfield.

#953 3 years ago

Just came across some NOS plastics from when I was in the club so if anyone needs a NOS plastics set(original WMS sealed bag) and a NOS fence plastic, PM me.

Awesome, thanks! Confirmed in the test cycle it’s out, so I need to trace that back and figure out why those bulbs aren’t lighting up.

Positive note, I figured out why the center home run wasn’t registering ... there was a piece from the lock I drilled out blocking the balls from going down. It took until they stacked up in there and the pitches weren’t throwing anymore to figure it out!

Hi Guys,
Just a quick note to say I am leaving the club as I have sold my Slugfest to make room for some other projects.

Thanks for all the help along the way from all as this has been a good club to belong in.

I do still have a few card catchers, so if any interest let me know. Once they are gone I probably won't make any more.

D.

My Slugfest is at my wife’s daughter’s house, probably to never to return.

Alas my Slugfest has been sold as well. Fun being in the club while it lasted. Maybe I will rejoin someday.

The bulbs 17,18,19 on this bulb list are missing from my slugfest. Anyone know about an 806 bulb. Is this a typo and they are 906?

Mine has 906s in that spot. Seems to work.

#960 3 years ago

Mine should have 906 too. I will be removing the playfield today to add LEDS and clean inserts. Going to rebuild the flipper bat and do maintenance on the pitching mechanism. I will post some photos.

VERY excited to be joining the club tonight (assuming all looks good)! Is there anything I should know about moving one of these? Anything to remove besides the cards from the dispenser (or do you need to?) and the balls (how do you actually get the balls out of this thing)? Can't wait to get this game home and set-up.

I never removed the balls from mine when I moved it. I guess I should have. I raise the playfield and inspect for any needed maintenance items. Make sure the home run ramp will raise up. Open the back doors and inspect WPC boards for hack wiring jobs and melted connectors. Check the DMD to make sure no lines out on the screen. Check all speakers are working. Inspect coin door. Good luck on your purchase.....its an awesome game to have in a collection.

Working on flipper bat. The old grease was so dry the bat was slow to move by hand. I swear this is the original parts. Removed old grease from hole with brake cleaner and installed new grease on shaft. Replacing worn parts...

Do not tighten that nut and bolt with bushing....make sure the bushing will turn with the nut and bolt just a little loose. Make sure to add grease to bushing as well. Check function before installing the coil and new link.

That was my least favorite part. The overlay is a PIA, and the buttons are really tight. Make sure the button orientation is correct otherwise they won't fit right. Theres an image on this forum that shows the orientation.

Thanks for the suggestion before installing the new overlay. I will say I'm not very good with wood working type stuff. I'm great mechanical engineer and enjoy repairing electrical and making things functional.

Did you find an overlay? Their not easy to come by....in my opinion the control panel has a bad design flaw. The top of overlay has an aluminum surface, but it doesn't extend over the bullnose, which why u always see it fail in that location. On mine there was a 1/8" lip between the aluminum and the bullnose.

Yes I was able to purchase one from @MrSanRamon. When winter arrives here in New England I will work on the overlay for a winter project. Once I have the old overlay off I will share photos of mine.

Not sure anyone sells them anymore....I would make the request through planetary pinball.....they have the rights to make the overlay, but currently don't have any stock

#978 3 years ago

Still have these left, they are NOS Williams, not repro’s! $65 shipping included in the US!

Me again....
I just found out that both holes under the cab at the back of the game have been blocked with a Wood shield. The grill was still on inside the game. The guy inserted brown napkin towels in the holes between the grill and wood shield. Why?

Yes. Everything is fine outside of this spot. It looks like a leak/dripping on this spot for a loooooog time. I’ll try to salvage It Before the whole Panel. Never a dull moment in this hobby!

For those who would like a new sticker for their card dispenser, fellow pinsider flashinstinct did the artwork for me. All you have to do is click on the link below and download the EPS file. Lots of company will be able to print it on vinyl

The patient wasn’t ready to die. Lots of micro/macro bondo cares. it’s now soft and Tough.

I also took some times to get rid of the atrocious original « bat ». It’s still proto but it’s much better. Same lenght and Specs. Same bounce and feel.
I Made 2 new « stadium lights » to put on each sides. Im Not done. But I know it will put pinstadium to shame

Well I consulted the google ... where do you get a bat like that?

I asked someone if they could 3D print one and they said it would not be durable enough hitting steel balls. Looks great.

Ah, got it. I wonder what it would look like if it were modified, maybe print the top half and put it on top of the bat? Or a way to hollow it and for it around the bat but leave the actual rubber surface exposed to hit the ball?

That would possibly work. I was emailing a pinsider a few weeks ago and they had no interest in the project.

Go big or Go home. By just sticking half a bat on top of the original it might look soso

Just got my game and joined the club. Was playing fine for the first few days, went to play a game today and it keeps throwing 2-3 balls every time a pitch is thrown. Has anyone experienced the pitching arm going around too many times? What is the fix?

#999 3 years ago
Quoted from laxgoalie1288:

Hi folks,
Brand new here but always been a BIG fan of the slugfest. I was fortunate enough to have purchased one this past weekend but it's missing its card dispenser. If anyone has a lead on one, I'd be very appreciative. Happy to ship or do local pick up if you're in the Chicago area.
Thanks for the help and happy to be here!
Cheers,
LG

Hello again! I finally was able to get my hands on a dispenser but now I'm facing another issue, It won't plug into the machine! I opened up my cabinet and saw what I assumed to be the line plgu that was just sitting there not attached to anything near where the card dispenser would be. So when I bought the dispenser and saw that it's about 3 feet too short from getting to the motherboard. I was pretty discouraged. Can anyone help me in my construction or offer any tips about what I need to do or what I might be missing?

Thanks!

#1000 3 years ago

Thinking of picking one up. I've heard transport is hard(er than a standard pin) because the head doesn't fold out. But I see many happily riding around in SUVs in this thread. So is the solution just to take the top cowl with the speakers off? Is this attached by bolts?

thanks.
