Joined the club today! Play ball!!!

First thing I had to do was figure out the language settings. It was in French! This thing is fully working, no battery damage, I’m good to go! I need to see where level is on this thing, ball can’t get up the ramp and out of the park.

Yes, totally awesome game! Last year at Pinfest in PA, while I would wait in line to play the new machines my kids would sit at a Slugfest a Pinside had nearby, about a row over. Of course, the cards were a big draw, but such a great game to change it up with 5 other pins in the line up! And one that can really get some quick competition if we can ever get past covid and get the fight nights going again!

Question, this didn’t have a card catcher, so checking to see if anyone has done a DIY basket for this. Looking for ideas on making one.

ZPINMAN370 Made some a year ago - he might have one left ...

Ok, I’ll get to reading. I mostly searched other topics, I should have known it would be here somewhere haha

I picked my slug fest up yesterday (paid for at the beginning of this Covid mess). It's been on my "wanted" list for a long while. Now I just need to find a CPO, convert to LED and add a card catcher (after I drill out the silly tubular lock on the card holder).

Unfortunately the coin door is a mess from when they added the core cashless system.

Not sure how much cards cost, but that thing paid for itself about 15 times !!

#915 4 years ago

And that doesn't even count the last 13 years on location after those numbers. (it came from Indiana Beach)

#916 4 years ago

What type of bulb do you have in position 58 (2nd base ?) I was working on an LED conversion for my slugfest last night and 2nd base according to the manual is a 555 but on mine it's a 44/47 type socket.

I rebuilt the bat completely on the one i had.
I even had a friend with a machine shop drill and sleeve the base.
Didn't find level had any effect on the home runs. My basement is all out of wack and for the most part it played the same wherever i put it.
Sometimes it blasted home runs up the ramp so fast i didn't even know where the ball went.
Whoever had my machine before me seemed to think waterproof grease (the kind that goes on car suspensions) was the way to go, made everything real sticky.

I’ve almost finished my custom art blades and will be getting them printed to see how they look. Will have pictures soon.

Interesting, we haven’t been able to take out on the ramp yet! And we’ve been trying, nothing but fastballs and then tried change ups when that wasn’t working. I’ll check it out more closely. Nothing sticky, although that stuff was all over a pin I had in the past. Gummed up everything! Maybe I’ll check the coils, be sure it’s the right one?

Check the entire bat mechanism, it should be solid and smooth. All the parts on mine were worn and sloppy.

I got my card catcher today ! Can anybody give me an idea of how your's is mounted ? My game had one at some point (the wood is a different color where the catcher went) but it looks like the screws towards the center were bolts and the ones by the side were screws ?.

They were carriage bolts to the left and the catcher and screws to the right of the catcher on mine

I ordered a Slugfest LED kit and the bulbs bases did not match up. You are correct. There are some 47 bulbs for which wedge base are supplied. I'm thinking there are 2 runs of the game. The first run had the 47s and the second for which the kit was made, had all wedge.

Ok so the card dispenser after a major cleaning kinda works but has anybody replaced the rubber roller in the dispenser ? I'm guessing that I can find something similar ? This one is pretty dried out.

Pretty sure you can put 2 O-rings on the drum

#932 4 years ago
Quoted from Mank:

I have O-rings on my drum. It works great....

#933 4 years ago

Are they on the drum (brown part) or are they on the metal shaft on each end of the drum ?. Can you please post a picture so I know what I'm looking for ?

#934 4 years ago

I do not have that brown drum but do have 2 o-rings and it works like a champ.

20200804_135646 (resized).jpg20200804_135646 (resized).jpg
#935 4 years ago

I'm afraid to cut off the drum and see if the metal drum looks the same or not. I may have to just bite the bullet.

#936 4 years ago

So I got bold and took a flat blade screw driver to the brown dried out rubber. I do not have the same metal drum with the o-ring grooves in it. My metal drum is smooth so I'm guessing I need to find a pc of rubber tubing around the same size.

Actually if you find some O-Rings (say 4) slightly smaller than the OD of the drum and like .090"-.120" wall thickness should do the trick. Once they slide over they should stay in place. You may need a vernier or small micrometer to measure the drum.

I have some o-rings on the way but I'm pretty sure the gap between the roller and the metal shelf the cards sit on will be too small.

#939 4 years ago

Ignore my last message, I was reading that as putting an oring over the brown rubber drum and not the smooth metal drum.

#940 4 years ago

For anybody following the adventure I took the plunge and cut off the dried out rubber tube. I wound up installing 4x 18mm x 4mm o-rings on the metal drum. I tested it out and it works very well with the exception of double card dispensing every once in a while. I'm using glossy on both sides cards (first ones I grabbed to test with) so I'm guessing that's the issue. Since it will be home use I'm not really concerned and will find some proper cards to test with later.

#941 4 years ago

Still pulling multiple cards, is there any way to adjust the gap or do I need to find larger o-rings ?

Nevermind, found the adjustments on page 58 of the manual...... RTFM of course

#942 4 years ago

Ok all, I am starting to clean and LED my Slugfest, but saw this going on with the bat assembly. The lower bolt is super loose and basically flopping around. You can also see wear behind it in an arc where the bold is wearing the bracket. Looking at it I thought: that can’t be right, and hoping the solve fixes the bat power so we can start sending balls out of the park! I saw a pic posted in the thread around the 800s, but I can’t see what piece(s) I’m missing. Any help?

Is this part my issue? I was thinking I was missing something that either goes around the bolt or between those plates to give it more stability?

#945 4 years ago

The shoulder bolt will definitely have some give to it, but it will also create wear and expansion of the oblong drive plate hole it goes through. Looking at the picture, the hole is much wider where the head of the shoulder bolt is than the other end.

#946 4 years ago

The oval shape on that part should be even all the way around, if you look at yours the one end is worn way out of shape which will cause alot of wobble / slack in the bat movement.

#947 4 years ago

What would cause the changeup pitch to act like a screwball? Doesn't always happen.

#948 4 years ago

Its certainly one of your issues....u need to replace that part

Ah, I see what you’re saying - ordering now!

#950 4 years ago

New question - the 3 lights behind the home run fence aren’t lighting up. Do they have their own fuse? Figured I would start there, all other lights look fine. Not lighting up in the lamp test.
