Slow flipper - shorted coil?

Hi. The left flipper in my Taxi has stopped working. In game it doesn't activate at all, just jiggles a little. In test, it activates, but quite slowly. I'm getting 67V across it, same as the right flipper. When activated manually, it seems free to move, so I don't think there's anything mechanically wrong (bushing, etc). I think the switch gap is ok too. I think my next step is to replace the coil - my best current guess is that there's a short and there's just not enough magnetism to pull the flipper shaft in - anyone think that this is reasonable or unreasonable?

What is the electrical tape covering up?

You can jumper across the switch to see if it is not making good contact. If the flipper returns to normal then problem found.

The coil isn't the issue, your mech is binding somewhere. Either there is not enough play and you have something too tight, or the plunger isn't aligned straight with the coil.

Couldn't find anything wrong with anything, or any binding. I removed the return spring and tried it, and the flipper fired perfectly. So I stretched out one of the coils of the return spring, and now it works perfectly. I guess the spring was aging and tightened up a little, if that can happen? Seems like a very small change to make the difference, but it worked.
