This is probably as simple as I guess but I wanted to check before I break something. My right sling on my LOTR is firing intermittently without being touched. Is it just a matter of bending the back leaf (?) back a bit to increase the gap between the two contacts?

#2 11 years ago

yes probably...

#3 11 years ago

Probably. I've had this same issue on 2 different games and that was the problem both times.

The Tron I play on location here in Dallas has the thinnest working gap known to man. It will not fire on it's "own", even when bumping the machine, but if you press the flipper on the right side, it will fire with the flipper. Have to be *VERY* careful on live catches out of the scoop on that one!

Every pinball owner should have this tool

A "how-to" with the tool or youtube video would be nice since, when first looking at it, I didn't know how to use it.

I assume you put one of the contact leads in the tool and then rotate CW or CCW, direction being dependent on if you want to widen or shorten the gap between the two contact points ?

And yes to the original OP, I would nearly guarantee the space between the contacts is your problem. Exact same identical thing happened on my old XF - distance between contacts was the problem.

How to?? Put the tool at the base of the leaf switch..bend it which ever way you want..end how to

I think I might be able to improvise something. Cheers for the answers dudes.

Thread drudge, anyone have a picture of the tool mentioned above that pinball life used to sell? Link no longer works. Have same problem as the Op.

A little careful observation and comparison with the other sling switches will probably allow you to see the issue.

This is a COMMON issue with ALL pinball machines and the leaf switches used everywhere.
