Hey guys...this is my first restoration and I don't think the wood screws in the image surrounding the sling kicker are supposed to be there. They are not tied down to anything under the playfield. However, I was wondering if anyone had an explanation on why they were possibly put there in the first place?

Thanks in advance,
PJ

Probably to keep the ball from getting stuck under the slings. On other older games, I've seen finishing nails, rather than wood screws.

I thought it had something to do with the rubber being weak so that'd make sense. You can see it through the plastic when it lit though so they're gonna go.

Thanks again,
PJ

70s and 80s ballys have thin plastic posts in about that location. My only thoughts were either that they hold the plastic up, they keep the balls out (as suggested), or they might help stop the slingshot from rapid-firing when the contacts are close
